If you are interested in adopting a dog that does not say it can be homed with a cat and wish us to cat test please let us know and we will be happy to do this.

04-09-2024 Rex has come to us from a home following a divorce. We feel Rex would be best suited to being homed as an only dog, where he can have all the fuss and attention to himself. He is super loving, bright and quite an active boy considering his age! He has been assessed by our vet and does have some age related cataracts but no action is needed for these at this time. Poor Rex is confused to find himself here as he is used to home comforts and loves to snuggle under a duvet. Rex's previous owner told us he loves to cuddle and play with toys although he can destroy them! Rex walks on a lead but is a little strong as he is used to off lead walking. He loves a little bit of cheese in the morning and as his bedtime treat.  Rex will make a fantastic companion for anyone willing to give him a chance!

24-09-24 UPDATE

I have only met Rex a handful of times but he is an absolute angel of a boy. He is very sweet and friendly and he loves a fuss… it's just such a shame that he's found himself here. He is quite strong on a lead still, but he loves going outside, whether that's to the play yard for a run around and a sniff or going out on walks with staff or volunteers. Rex is always welcoming when you walk into his kennel and always greets you with a little smile and a tail wag. He loves his food and absolutely loves treats. Please consider giving him his new and forever home, kennel life is no life for any dog but especially dogs that have come to us from a home and are used to the home life and comforts. He is an older dog, but he has so much life and love left in him to give, please don't let him spend too long living in kennels he deserves his forever home

31-10-2024 UPDATE

So today I had the pleasure of meeting Rex! Rex has never met myself before and straight off the bat he was extremely happy to see me (maybe it was my lead) and got very waggy. As I lent down to say hello he came straight into my arms and was very happy and loved to have an ear tickle. We then commenced to have our walk. Rex is an angel when out and about, he is very strong on a lead so a harness would be highly beneficial for both parties involved whilst out and about. Rex has spent all his life in a home and is extremely used to home life, he’s done quite well adapting to kennel life, and is genuinely quite happy as long as people are around. Rex would be looking for a quiet, but slightly active home where he will get a nice bit of time exercising and even more time just lounging around and chilling. Despite his age he is still a very healthy boy. Rex could be homed as an only dog, he loves people and could definitely get all he needs from a loving devoted person.

17-12-24 UPDATE
Sweet Rex has been returned from a home after a brief adoption as everything was fine for 5 days but then he was not getting on with the resident dog. A fight broke out and his adopters were caught in the crossfire. This was very upsetting for all involved so the adopters made the difficult decision to return Rex to his fosterer. His fosterer will be monitoring him closely as this behaviour is very out of character for Rex. In the meantime we feel it sensible not to home him with children and as an only dog in his new home. Rexs fosterer feels he is sore around his back end which may explain his behavious and he is being walked very carefully and using non slip mats on the floor.

02-01-25 UPDATE

Darling Rex was very sadly returned to us following a brief adoption. He has settled back in with our 5 resident dogs like he never left and has been nothing but the sweet old man that he was before. His arthritis is being managed with pain relief meds and he is keen and active, enjoying off lead walks daily. Rex may be 11 years old but he absolutely refuses to acknowledge it! This little guy would play ball all day long if you let him. Obviously with his arthritis, games are restricted to playing direct catch only & no chasing. He is wonderful house guest; completely housetrained (although you’ll never get to go to the toilet alone), sleeps through the night, walks well on the lead, good recall, meets other people/dogs politely and without much interest, can be left for a few hours without issue. Apart from his toys, he’d never touch anything in the home that isn’t his. He can be a little noisy when excited and is an excellent guard dog when it comes to outside noises (well he is living with 3 Dobe sisters). Travels really well in the van, although does like a bit of a sing-song. Adores a cuddle and is sure he’s a lap dog, he’s a tad bit big really but we make it work! Rex would like a home with a calm resident female dog/s. He likes their company and a snuggle but doesn’t want to play with dogs, only has eyes for his ‘precious’ (ball)! He could be an only dog but his people would need to be around ALL the time as he wouldn’t like to be left completely alone. This dear old man so deserves to have his very own family again; he doesn’t ask for much, just a comfy sofa/lap, a walk and an accurate throwing arm! He has so much love to give, please consider him.
