05-08-24 Tilly is an absolute sweetheart and is so cheeky, she tries to steal all the treats and has come to us from Ukraine via War Paws Rescue. Tilly will come up for a short fuss but isn't entirely convinced it's a great thing yet. She does love being rubbed under the chin / bottom of her neck. Tilly is very food orientated and tends to eat even when she is worried, so food is a win win for her. Tilly takes a while to gain your trust but once it's there she is allowing of you to do what you need to help her in life (put a harness on etc) even though she still isn't entirely comfortable with the process yet, she is co-operative. Tilly now gets excited to see people she knows and trusts, she sometimes loses herself and jumps up on you in excitement!
During her time in Ukraine Tilly progressed so much, when she first arrived she originally would snap if you got too close to her, purely out of fear... fast forward a few months, Tilly has learned to walk on a harness, goes out to play regularly and once she knows you, she will hide behind you rather than from you.
She is an active girl and loves to do zoomies in the playyard with the other dogs. She would definitely need another dog in her new home to follow and learn how to live in a home. She will need understanding adopters who will give her the time and not overwhelm her with everything at once. Although she walks on a harness, adopters will need to build a bond with her, give her plenty of time to settle and be mindful that she is new to the UK so will need plenty of time to settle and build a realtionship before she goes out to new places. When out and about she will never have seen/heard things we consider normal so will need to be introduced into the big wide world slowly and put in environments she can grow in confidence and flourish. She will need help learning new skills such as housetraining and given plenty of understanding as she finds her feet.
Tilly will need someone patient to help her continue to grow and show her the big wide world. Tilly is quite an anxious girl and definitely gets re-assurance from someone she trusts, and her canine friends. She is learning that people have kind intentions and will need a quiet adult only home with few visitors so she can gain confidence and security in her new home and flourish. Tilly has a passport.
Tilly has been tested for Heartworm, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis, Borrelia, Babesia and Canine Brucellosis while in the Ukraine between 2022-2023, She did have and was treated for Heartworms but is now negative for Heartworms since April 2024. Tilly has also been tested for Heartworm, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis, Borrelia and Canine Brucellosis since her arrival at the rescue using Bionote rapid tests and all were negative. We understand that vets have differing policies in regards to imported dogs and may request testing again in 3 months hence why these dogs are by a reduced adoption fee. Our rehoming team can provide futher information on the tests completed if required. We will be retesting the dogs again in 3 months if they have not been adopted by then and are happy for adopters to bring their dogs back to the rescue for testing and will only charge the cost of the tests.
13-08-24 UPDATE
Tilly is such a sweet yet worried girl that has been feeling lost for years now. She has gone through so much, and although wears her worries on her face, is such a gentle lady with a heart of gold. Tilly hasn’t been with us long, but has already improved and now will let you put a lead and harness on her but she’s not happy until you let go. With this in mind she will need a quieter home with a family who will understand she needs time to adjust to this life and learn there is nothing to be frightened of anymore. She will need another dog in the home to help her settle and adjust but I’m sure she will make a great addition to the family once settled in. She is a beautiful girl that has survived through all odds, and now it’s time for her to feel settled, in a home, for the first time since her world was ripped apart.
28-09-24 UPDATE
It’s been a while since I’ve been able to work with Tilly and it always shocks me when week after week I find out she’s still here and still not getting any interest. She’s the most gorgous thing and day by day is putting so much work into herself.
Although still a nervous little girl she has so much to offer, not just in looks but in personality. She’s begun to understand us more and more and although I don’t think her shy nature will ever disappear, her gentle yet inquisitive nature just proves that she is learning, adapting and trusting us more everyday.
After spending most of her life in kennels it’s really about time she finds that perfect forever home, because watching her get looked over each week is heart wrenching.
If you have a confident resident dog and a quiet mature house hold, please come and meet her because this wonderful girl deserves her happy ever after!
