19-02-25 Shangrila is a gorgeous lady that has come to us from a breeder in Ireland to start her new journey. Shangrila is a very sweet girl but is a little timid at the moment and relies heavily on her kennel friends. Therefore, we believe she would benefit from a resident dog in the home to look to for comfort and support as she settles into her new home. Shangrila may require a nice and calm home while she learns all about confidence and home life. She would also benefit from an adult only home that can offer her this environment, but can be reassessed with children after she has had time to settle. Shangrila has not had a chance to live in a home just yet so she will need her adopters to be understanding while she learns new skills such as house training. Shangrila does walk on a lead quite nicely but will need her new adopters to continue working with her on the proper manners. Shangrila is a very sweet girl that we are hopeful will come out of her shell soon, and let her personality shine. Shangrila has her travel documents.
22-02-25 UPDATE
When Shangrila arrived with us, she was showing some signs of discomfort and squatting to pee a lot. She visited our vets for an ultrasound where they found she had a large bladder stone. She has had surgery to remove this and is recovering well, but her adopters would need to be aware that should this recur in future it would not be coverable by insurance. Shangrila has started eating a special urinary food and will need to continue this in her new home.
Shangrila has come to us from a breeder in Ireland. Their trip was sponsored by an anonymous and very generous donation to the Gift of Life fundraiser. The donation has not only sponsored Shangrila but also all of the other dogs on the van! We are so humbled by this generous donation and so very thankful. PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.
ADOPTION DETAILS
If your application is successful you will be home checked and you, all members of your family and any dog(s) who will be living with the dog MUST come to meet the dog you want to adopt. All our dogs are micro-chipped, have had at least their first inoculation and are spayed/neutered unless there is a medical reason for not doing so. You must have a safe means of transporting the dog home in a crate or if this is not possible please discuss with Many Tears or the Fosterer when your application is being processed.
