03-12-24 Olly is one of 12 little dogs who have come to Many Tears as part of an energency rescue situation. They have all been owned and loved by a lady who sadly lost her home and had a difficult time with her mental health. She lived for her dogs but had nowhere to go with them. Things reached crisis point when all the dogs were living in a small caravan with no electric or running water, in freezing conditions. The dogs were frightened, either hiding away or barking with worry.
The lady tried everything she could to give the dogs the life they deserved but was unable to do so and knew the only way to show them she loved them for one last time was to allow them to live with families who could give them the warm, stable and loving environement they need. We agreed to take the dogs and we also took the lady somewhere she would be safe, warm and cared for. They are all older dogs so most need to see the vet for dentals but we are determined to help this lady by finding the dogs the wonderful homes they deserve as soon as we can. The dogs have been through so much and they need to settle down and enjoy their twilight years.
Olly is such a lovely little older man. Sadly he is doubly oncontinent so he does leak both urine and faeces. He has arrived to us with weakness in his back legs and does walk with a very abnormal gait. We were told that he fell off a 6ft wall in the past and that his legs have never been the same. He has had a thorough assessment with our vet and they cannot find any physical reason why he walks this way, but he doesn't seem to be in pain and gets around very well. He hasn't had much exercise and so his muscles have also weakend. He would benefit from a gentle introduction to exercise and perhaps some physio but this may not make a difference to the way he walks. Although this doesn't bother him at the moment, his adopters would need to be aware that any treatment relating to this condition would not be covered by insurance. Olly has also had 5 teeth extracted by our vet.
Olly will come up to you and will crawl onto your lap for a cuddle. All he wants is to be loved and loves the ladies! Olly hates being left alone and needs someone to scoop him up and help him feel safe.With lots f love and TLC he will shine
