If you are interested in adopting a dog that does not say it can be homed with a cat and wish us to cat test please let us know and we will be happy to do this.

13-11-24 Birch is a very worried girl who has come to us from a breeder to find her forever home. Currently, Birch does not trust us humans very much and does her best to avoid being handled. She will need her new home to have an understanding and expertise in ex-breeding dogs, and allow her the time she needs to learn to trust and gain confidence. Birch would suit best in a home with a kind resident dog who will allow her to lean on for support and comfort as she settles in. She will also need a home with no children as she is a very scared girl and will need a gentle environment to build her trust in people. As Birch has not had the chance of living in a home, she will need her new family to be understanding as she learns new skills such as house training and how to walk on a lead. Birch really is an adorable girl, she is just needing someone to take a chance on her, and to show her love! She has a PETS passport travel Doc

19-12-24 UPDATE
What a difference a week (or three) makes.
Birch is loving her Foster home where she's part of a 10 strong pack of Dachsunds and Cocker Spaniels. Birch gets along with all the dogs and she absolutely loves to be with humans. She is confident and super friendly. She jumps up to greet us when we come back into a room jostling with the other dogs to get the most attention. She has an overshot protruding lower jaw which isn't causing her any problems.  She softly uses her mouth to show her affection and loves her ears tickling. She gets up on the sofa as close as she can and often climbs on me to get more cuddles and ear tickles, she really is a joy to be around and has a beautiful personality.
Birch eats with other dogs and shows no signs of food guarding. She is a little underweight and has scoffed down a third bowl of food on occasions.
Birch happily sleeps downstairs with other fosters as she's still learning about house training. She does like to venture upstairs to investigate and can manage stairs. She does listen and respond to instruction so should be easy to train. Birch does like to play with soft toys and can keep herself amused. She tolerates being left with other dogs for short periods of time. She doesn't appear to be very vocal.
Birch does like to play with other dogs and loves to do zoomies chasing or being chased. She would benefit from being with at least one resident dog to learn from and she does like to cuddle up with another dog to sleep.
Birch does tolerate her harness, but lead walking outside in the big wide world is a little too much for her just yet. She flops down and won't move. In time she will gain confidence from other dogs when we go out for a walk and it shouldn't be long before her confidence outdoors matches her confidence indoors, though it's already obvious from house training she is a good weather dog!
Birch could be homed with dog savvy respectful children over the age of 8, though she will make a lovely addition to any family,  she's such  a gentle sweet little thing.
Please complete an application if you feel you can offer Birch the home she deserves.

Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.
