31-10-2024 Meet Cranberry, she is a lovely little lady that has come to us from a home where many dogs were being hoarded in a small space. She has sore skin which our vet is treating. Cranberry is a shy girl but after some time she will approach you and does really love fuss and attention when done calmly and slowly. Cranberry is showing us that she wants to be loved and is just unsure about human kindness but with time we know she is going to shine so bright. Cranberry will need a home with another resident dog as she has always been around other dogs and another dog will help her settle into her new forever home and also give her a helping paw with training. Cranberry will need to be taught house manners such as toilet training and how to walk on a lead. Cranberry will need adopters that are able to give her unlimited time and patience to help her settle in and come out of her shell, she already shows us how much she wants to be loved so we know she won't take long to understand human kindness.
20-11-2024 UPDATE Cranberry is the most darling, innocent and quiet little girl and I am completely in love with her!!! She’s probably the most reserved one out of her kennel friends, but she’s not terrified by any means .. just a little withdrawn I’d say. When I sit down in the back of the kennel, all of them (including her) pile onto my lap and snuggle up and go to sleep. As I type this, she has her head rested on my knee with her eyes closed. She is such a sweetheart!!! She is easy to pick up and handle, she will approach me for a gentle fuss, and she’ll always take treats from my hand. She’s actually very foodie so this is something her future family should keep in mind as it will probably be the key to winning her over! She will still need a resident dog in her new home because I do think she’d be lost without having one around. She may be a little overwhelmed when she first gets home, but I don’t think it will take her too long to settle. Her adopters will just need to be very understanding and patient with her. I really hope this little love isn’t here for much longer because she SO deserves to be warm and cosy in a home. She’s one of the easiest dogs to look after at the rescue and I just don’t think she would be any trouble. Please consider welcoming this sweet angel into your home and your heart.
19-12-24 UPDATE
Cranberry is a lovely natured dog who weighs about 8.5kg and who loves people. She is quite timid meeting other dogs. Fine with my smallish older ladies. A friend recently visited with her very lively JRT who ran towards Cranberry and she took off in terror leaping onto my kitchen work top and from there into my arms ! Oh my goodness she can jump. Pleased to say after making a fuss of both dogs and careful introduction within half an hour they were chasing each other around the garden at amazing speed! She would make a great agility dog, she is so fast and as I said she can jump, not just the work tops. She leapt onto my kitchen table from a standing start. I’m afraid her manners do need a bit of work, but she is so sweet and cuddles into you when you lift her off and gently point out this is not really acceptable behaviour.
In the right home a resident dog isnt essential as she is quite confident with people if they approach her quietly, but it would be very sad for her to be left alone too long and too often. She ignores my dogs, just wanting to sit with me, on me, behind me if I’m typing or next to my legs as I’m walking about, probably the only fault I can find with her is that she does tend to be rather a trip hazzard !
I havent managed to take her out lead walking yet but I’m confident that won’t be a huge problem.
House training is a work in progress but today has been very mild, doors have been open and she seems to have got the message that the garden is the place to go. Don’t guarantee that will always be the case at the moment.
I think she would make a lovely family dog, devoted to her people. A good friend for an older child, she would knock over a very small one, she has boundless energy and bounce. Maybe 8+ and dog savvy. My Granddaughters aged 3 & 5 will be here at Christmas so I will be able to give a better assessment after that.
