29-10-2024 This handsome man is Eddy, he has come to us from a breeder and he is very confused about his surroundings. Eddy needed to have several teeth removed by our vet but is recovering well. Eddy is a very nervous boy however he is getting braver by the day, if you sit quietly he will slowly approach you for a fuss. Eddy relies on his kennel mates for company and encouragement so he will need another dog in his new home to continue building his confidence. Another dog in the home will also help him with house manners such as lead training, toilet training and also learning the sounds of a house he may not have heard before such as the TV and hoover and would suit best in a cat-free home! Eddy will need kind patient pawrents to help him learn how to be a beloved family member, but we have no doubt that in time he will become the best little sidekick! Eddy comes with PETS travel documents.
06-11-2024 UPDATE
I haven't really had the chance to spend much time with Eddy since he's been here, but I sat with him for a bit in the yard and can see he is still quite nervous when it comes to meeting people. He is trying so hard to be confident, he will come up and have a fuss but then he'll walk away, but does keep coming back for more fusses. When Eddy is around his kennel friends he seems to be more confident, and will come up and say hello with them. He is fine with you picking him up and I had no issues handling him. In a home Eddy will need to have at least one resident dog as he is more comfortable with other doggy friends around. His new canine buddy will help him with lead training as well as where to go to the toilet and other house training skills, as well as provide him with comfort and safety if he feels he needs it. He is such a lovely boy, and as I said he is trying his hardest to be more confident, and in time I'm sure he will be, he just needs someone to be patient with him and allow him the room to thrive and show off his personality. All he needs is that chance, the right people/person to come along and give him his forever and loving home, if you think he could be the right dog for you then please do come and say hello he doesn't belong in kennels he belongs curled up on someone's lap at the end of a day and going out on nice walks and new adventures.
24-11-24 UPDATE
Eddy has been in foster with me for a week and is slowly getting used to home life. Eddy is very nervous of people and his new surroundings and is skittish. He will run to the other room if you get up and walk around. So this first week has been about letting him settle. I did push him out of his comfort zone a little and held him next to me on the sofa untill he relaxed. Then for 2.5 hrs he stayed with me.
Now the sofa has become a safe spot and he is happy to come and lay fully stretched out sleeping away with you as long as you don't move too much. He will accept fusses and ask for more and push his head into your hand.
House training has only just begun. I've not started lead walking with him yet as I wanted him to settle with us a bit first, but that will start very soon. Generally he is trying so hard to be brave he just needs his confidence building. He really is lovely dog.
12-12-24 UPDATE
Eddy is becoming a cuddle buddy on the sofa and isn't backwards at asking for more fusses. He is very much a beginner on the lead & harness and finds all the sights outside overwhelming.
Ed would like a quiet home and quiet life with someone to shower him in love, and to work with him to help him blossom. There really is a lovely dog under the scared exterior.
Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.
PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.
