16-10-2024 Pippi Longstocking the beautiful Schnauzer, although she is a little nervous and unsure she has a heart of gold and a personality waiting to shine, although she won't approach you she will let you handle her and is very gentle. Pippi has come to us from a breeder and relies heavy on other dogs for support and love and she enjoys being curled up having snuggles with her friends. She is a kind and gentle girl who loves other dogs very much and will need at least one kind resident dog who will be happy to be her friend and show her all about home life. Pippi might not have heard normal home noises such as the TV, hoover, washing machine etc so she might need some time to realise these things aren't so scary! Pippi will also need help with house training and manners such as lead walking and toilet training however with time, patience and another dog she should pick this up in no time! Pippi has cataracts in her left eye that has been seen by our vet team which could need referral to a specialist vet to have it removed, we will keep this updated as close as possible. She is having eye drops in her left eye and manages well with this. Pippi deserves a home full of love and to be curled up on the sofa before Christmas!

05-11-2024 UPDATE

Pippie-longstocking is a very sweet, yet shy little lady. She is slowly getting used to her carers here at the rescue and is building up her confidence little by little everyday. She’s a lady that’s going to need lots of love and gentle patience to truly come out of her shell, but with time she’ll surely get there. Pippie gets on well with her kennel friends and looks to them to make sure everything is ok, which means this sweet girl will definitely be looking for a home where there will be at least one kind resident dog to show her the way. Given time to build her trust in her new family and master skills like walking on a harness, I’m sure Pippie will begin to thrive and enjoy throughly enjoy all the things she should.

09-11-24 UPDATE
Lovely Pippi is going to a foster home where she will be near an eye specialist so she can receive an assessment for her eyes. We will update soon once she has been assessed.

21-11-2024 UPDATE
Pippi is adjusting well in her new foster home and we have a good news update, Pippi has been made a candidate for surgery on her cataracts! Pippi will be having this surgery very soon and we will get an update out as soon as possible.

27-11-2024 UPDATE
Pippi has settled in so well at foster and is just a dream of a dog. She’s had her cataract surgery and is doing great so far, she is allowing me to put drops in her eyes and only occasionally do I have to play catch with her around the sofa (when she sees me coming with the bottle)! She’s calm gentle and kind to my other dogs and is slowly growing in confidence as she now sometimes barks when I’m moving too slowly with breakfast or dinner service!! She will have to have ongoing checkups with an ophthalmology vet and drops for the rest of her life. To see the happiness and confidence grow in her now that she can see is just a joy. Hopefully if all goes well she should be ready for adoption soon.

17-12-24 UPDATE

Pippi has had her latest check up with Rowe vets and is doing great, her inflammation is nearly all clear and she has normal pressures in both her eyes.
She is just a dream of a dog, gets on great with all of mine (although the other night she tried to play with my grumpy old Bichon and she growled at Pippi and bless her Pippi just backed off and left her alone, she has such good manners).

She sleeps soundly all night, goes out to toilet and is beginning to enjoy a fuss. Now she is healed from the cataract surgery I will start to walk her on a lead……update to follow! Fingers crossed she will be ready for her new home in the new year.

Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.
