02-10-2024 Azlan a sweet but nervous boy who has come to us from a breeder. He is initally a bit timid to come near people, but with patience and starting out slow he settles in. Azlan loves other dogs and relies on them for comfort and to help build and ensure his confidence. He has no idea how to walk on a lead yet and knows nothing about home skills such as house training but with some time, care, and patience, his personality will likely show. Azlan would best suit a home with another resident dog to help him become comfortable, as he does lean on his companions for comfortability. Please give this sweet guy a chance. He cannot be homed with cats and will be looking for an adult only home.
17-10-24 UPATE
Azlan is a very inquisitive boy who LOVES other dogs company. He is gaining trust every day but is still not keen on human hands and is not quite as confident as his mighty name would suggest. He is starting his harness training journey, but he does find it a bit confusing at the moment, but I’m sure with time and a little encouragement, he’ll get there. In time I'm sure he'll flourish and become a much loved companion to the right humans. I don’t think it would take him too long to understand homelife especially with a friendly doggy pal in the home to help him.
07-11-2024 UPDATE
Today I spent some time with the wonderful Azlan and his kennel friends and what more can we say other than he’s really progressing well ! Azlan used to avoid people when I first met him but now section keeping a wide birth but today he’s approaching me and even allowing a gentle fuss. Azlan really enjoys playing with his kennel friends and runs around like a crazy dog for short bursts before settling down a bit and enjoying a good sniff around the yard. If you have experience with slightly nervous dogs and have a resident more confident dog perhaps this handsome boy would fit right in !
14-11-24 UPDATE
Azlan arrived at the beginning of October very worried and scared and is getting braver day by day!
Today it was time to tackle a bath and trim but what an outstanding boy he was! He sat patiently in the bath whilst we scrubbed him clean and was even brave enough for the big hair dryer. Below is him showing off his wonderful self and beautiful coat.
Azlan is still at the beginning stages of harness training as he finds it a little scary but in time he will be walking alongside all his friends or future family.
Azlan would love a happy and friendly dog in the household male or female.
And adopters who are willing to carry on his training and give him all the love and time he needs.
09-12-24 UPDATE
Azlan has been in foster over a week now and his progress has been remarkable. He is still a little hand shy and can flinch initially when you stroke him but then realises it feels really nice and leans in for more.
He loves his walks and exudes confidence, nose to the ground and wants to say hi to every dog. He’s a bit left and right in the lead but getting better each time.
He’s been clean in the house with the exception of 1 accident, he doesn’t yet cock his leg. He sleeps soundly on his own bed in my bedroom at night, but has not yet mastered the stairs so I carry him up.
He is still figuring out home life and remains a little jumpy and skittish with sudden loud noises and movements but I don’t think it’ll take him long to overcome this. He takes a lot of confidence in other dogs and loves to play and enjoy their company. He can be left home alone for 30 mins at the moment with other doggy company and something to chew on like a horn hoof or nylabone.
He’s quite chatty and makes lots of funny noises, he barks occasionally but not excessively. With a bit of patience and time to decompress I think he will very quickly blossom into a mad daft spaniel!
15-12-24 UPDATE
He is a delightful companion!
Walking is improving all the time. Alone or with my dog. He is clean and dry, as long as he has access to garden. He needs to go out once during night, but as I go to bed very early, he would probably be ok with someone who stayed up to 11pm!
Azlan is very affectionate, cuddling up to me and Heidi. Always looking for her to do things with him. He knows his name and responds to ‘wait!’ and ‘No!’ Azlan is very smart and keen to please. He would probably be fine with older children , takes no notice of them in the street, I live opposite a secondary school so there are always kids about.
Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.
PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.
