10-11-2024 UPDATE Kemp was adopted in September this year but sadly the resident dog was reluctant to accept Kemp into the home and her adopters very sadly decided to return her. Luckily she has been able to come straight into foster with us and our smaller dogs and she has settled well. She is a smaller beagle - very pretty, very sweet natured and so far has been a very clean and tidy house guest. She has the typical Beagle appetite for food so we feed her seperately from the other dogs so she doesn't get herself into trouble and she is learning to wait in turn for treats. She isn't at all aggressive - just very enthusiastic! She is being walked here on a very long training lead and seems to enjoy her walks very much. She is a sweetheart and our dogs have totally accepted her into their sofa gang. We think she will need a kind MALE dog friend in her new home but we will continue to monitor that as she gets used to us.
18-11-2024 UPDATE
Kemp has had to move foster homes that is nothing to do with Kemp and she is now here in foster with 4 other beagles, 2 jack russel terriers and a great dane x. She has settled very quickly and is being a great support to a very shy beagle that we have in foster with us. She enjoys sniffy beagle walks and running around our large garden. Kemp attended her first beagle meet courtesy of Herefordshire Beagle owners and she enjoyed meeting all the other beagles and their owners. Kemp sleeps through the night on the sofa, travels well in the car, and is clean in the house. She would benefit from a kind resident dog of a similar or smaller size as she can still get a little nervous. She is unsure when you put a harness on but is fine once its on. Like most beagles she enjoys her food and loves her treats.
15-12-24 UPDATE
Kemp is still here and I cannot understand why! She loves long sniffy walks and is much better at having her harness put on, albeit a soft harness. She will jump into the car ready to go out somewhere different. She is better with male dogs rather than females, although she is living with both male and female. She would really love to be in a home where she gets more attention as at the moment, she is one of ten dogs here. She is a typical beagle and loves her food and treats. Kemp sleeps all night downstairs with the other dogs.
Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.
PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.
