If you are interested in adopting a dog that does not say it can be homed with a cat and wish us to cat test please let us know and we will be happy to do this.

22-07-24 Ozzy has come to us to find his forever home after a kind lady took him and another Shar Pei in after they had been abandoned and has looked after them for the past two months. Ozzy was in a really poor state when he was rescued and had extremely sore skin and so had to be shaved. We are told that he has a bear coat, so with time and love his coat should start to grow out again. He has been seen by a vet and has been treated for skin issues, he is already looking and feeling much better but is continuing to be monitored and treated here.
Ozzy is a very sweet boy who is understandably a little worried to find himself here, but once he gets to know you he really enjoys a fuss and a cuddle. We feel that Ozzy would be best suited to being homed as an only dog. Ozzy will be looking for a home with adopters who have breed experience or who have thoroughly researched the breed. He has lived in a home but he may need some reminders of house training, although he does his best to be kennel clean here.
He loves to play with balls and toys and enjoys having a kong as well. He loves to go for walks but will pull at the start of the walk so his adopters will need to work on this with him. He can react to other dogs on walks if they bark at him so he has never been let off lead for this reason. He is affectionate and loves a butt scratch and will lick your hand and arm to ask for more fuss. He is a really lovely boy who so deserves to find a loving home as soon as possible.

10-08-24 UPDATE

Ozzy hasn’t really been enjoying this rainy weather so we’ve ended spending some quality 1 on 1 time together. Ozzy is really starting to show his love of people recently and this little man is desperate for a nice home! He’s a quiet boy with a big heart, and although kennel life is super overwhelming for him, he’s starting to be brave by asking for what he wants which is company. This special little boy wins hearts over so quickly that you only have to spend 5 minutes cuddling and you will be hooked on him but he often gets overlooked because of his breed and as he’s a quieter lad, sometimes stays in the back when there’s visitors. If anyone reading this has ever welcomed a sharpei into their house or is willing to consider it please come meet him you won’t regret it. He truly is a special boy that will flourish in a home

28-08-24 UPDATE

Yet again we find ourselves updating this handsome boy on a rather wet and miserable day but nonetheless we found a break in the clouds and ozzy was certainly looking forward to some attention. Whenever I get to spend time with this wonderful little sharpei I am reminded of just how hard kennel life really is for some dogs, Ozzy could really flourish in a home and unfortunately due to his breed often gets overlooked when showarounds pass. This boy is just incredible to spend time with even enjoying a fuss and his daily outings. Please don’t over look this little guy, come meet him and spend some time and I’m pretty certain he’s going to have you filling out paperwork.

01-09-24 UPDATE

We now think that Ozzy needs to be an only dog. He’s been kennelled with females in the past, but this is now not working out and we’ve discovered that Ozzy just enjoys being the star of the show. Ozzy is definitely confident enough to be an only dog and is walking confidently on a lead now without pulling. While Ozzy had been on my section he's been friendly, always up for a head or back scratch… and then Ozzy got moved to a new section so I hadn't seen him in a few days. I saw Ozzy again yesterday and he was soooo affectionate (as you can see in the video). He had obviously missed me, but he'd never been very attached to me while he had a kennel friend. I didn't know Shar Peis could be so animated, and it certainly gave me ego a boost. He's such a cute and quirky boy and watching him fetch a tennis ball makes me smile. He loves to get out for a walk and he isn't that reactive when out, but he is around the kennels, so I think he could easily be trained to walk peacefully. I don't think Ozzy would win prizes for being handsome, but he makes up for that by being so, so cute.
