If you are interested in adopting a dog that does not say it can be homed with a cat and wish us to cat test please let us know and we will be happy to do this.

05-07-24 Jumbo is a handsome boy who has come from his breeder to find a loving home. He was very worried when he first arrived but has started to come out of his shell and is doing so well. He can walk on a lead and does get very excited when he sees his lead and will approach you to have this put on, but if you don't have his lead then he is much more worried and will shy away. He could be homed as an only dog or he can be homed with a large/medium sized female dog that's playful and would be tolerant of him as he can be a little OTT with his playing.
As he is quite worried, he will need a home with adopters who have experience of scared ex-breeding dogs and will help him to come out of his shell and he would find children too overwhelming at the moment. He has never lived in a home before so his adopters will need to be kind and understanding as he settles in and learns all about toilet training.
Jumbo struggles with loud noises and when he heard gunshot from a nearby farm he really panicked and so please be aware of this as he may struggle with fireworks and thunder. He will need regular trips to the groomer to keep his unruly curls under control! This boy needs some time and patience but when he settles he will start to shine. He has a PETS passport travel doc.

23-07-24 UPDATE

Jumbo has hugely come out of himself since arriving! He now walks confidently on lead, though he can be very strong so we've got him walking on a halti here and he now walks very nicely when it's on. Jumbo cannot be homed with cats. He is okay having his body groomed but he doesn't like his face being groomed at all, so this is something we are working on, and also why the pictures aren't too fab!! Jumbo is also 90% clean in his kennel and holds it the best he can.
I think Jumbo has huge potential to be an awesome addition to a family (with no young kids as he has so much bouncy energy), he just needs the time to blossom!

31-07-24 UPDATE
Jumbo had a haircut while he was under anaesthetic for his neuter! This way we could work on him without upsetting him in any way as he was fast asleep.
He looks like a brand new boy! And we can now hopefully easily stay on top of his grooming around his face and his body. His new adopters will also need to continue this with him to prevent him from becoming matted and uncomfortable again.
Jumbo is such a lovely boy and we cannot wait to see him happily settled into his forever home.

21-08-24 UPDATE

Jumbo is a very sweet boy who has come on so well since he arrived with us. He absolutely loves toys and treats, and will sprint around our big play yard like is finally able to act like a puppy. He would absolutely love it if someone could frequently take him to a secure field/yard for a big run around on his own and to chase a ball (and lose it in plain sight - he will never fail to make you laugh!). He now greets me at his kennel very excitedly and will nuzzle in to me for a head scratch. Today, I wiped around his eyes and face trimmed a little bit of hair while giving him some cheese and he let me, but after a few minutes would not stay still so I left him be. Hopefully as he gets more and more confident, he will realise that scissors aren’t so scary, but today was huge progress. When Jumbo arrived he was so strong on lead, however recently he has been a pleasure to walk and will only pull if he really wants to sniff something, we no longer have to use a halti to walk him. He really is a good boy. Jumbo could be homed as an only dog or could live with a large/medium sized female dog, his carer can discuss this in further detail. Jumbo LOVES his humans and all his squishy toys. Please give this goofy boy a chance to have the loving him he deserves.

10-10-24 UPDATE
I've been lucky enough to be able to work with Jumbo quite a bit since his arrival. Though it’s sad to see how long he’s been here with little to no interest. He is a lovely boy and he has always been. He’s confident with me and always comes up to me with a waggly tail though I think half of it is his anticipation over the possibility of breaking free from his kennel for a while. Recently we've been giving Jumbo plenty of play dates with different dogs and he absolutely loves this Beagle in the video attached. He plays wonderfully, so seeing him socialise is so lovely to see, and it’s great for him to meet new dogs and develop new skills. Jumbo really shouldn’t be here any longer than he already has been.

17-11-24 UPDATE
I honestly cannot believe Jumbo is still waiting for his people to come forward. He's a stunning boy with bounds of character. He makes me laugh every single day with his silly playful ways. He's growing more affectionate with each day! He is fine with his body being groomed, around his face and eyes is still a work in progress; but he allows me to brush his ears now and cut his fringe back when needed which is awesome progress! Jumbo runs and runs and runs until he cannot run anymore. He loves nothing more than a hard chew toy and tennis balls! He gets so silly if you roll a tennis ball towards him! He can still be spooky on walks and can be strong on lead when he gets spooked by loud noises. Jumbo has provided amazing comfort and confidence to a long stayer resident here called Yitty. So much so, that we would consider homing these 2 together if there were no resident dogs in the home. It isn't a must, and Jumbo can still go home as an only dog or with a large female dog if Yitty wasn't going home with him! But it would be nice for Yitty to have consistency and for Jumbo to have a play friend who he can also help along into home life too.

21-12-24 UPDATE

These two are so comedic. Jumbo has brought Yitty's silly side out, and for the first time ever I'm seeing Yitty become cheeky, characteristic, and just generally be a happy dog (she's been here 11 months!)
Jumbo LOVES toys, and because of this Yitty has started to show interest in them too! Every day we have the same routine, and every day I end up in stitches at their antics! They've both been going for long walks twice a week with one of our trusted volunteers and they both get so excited that even Yitty has started copying Jumbo and jumps up at the human with her harness with excitement now!
Any potential adopters must know that Jumbo will be a little nervous when he first goes to his new home but I think he'll settle fairly quickly, however the settling period for Yitty will be a long and slow one, and all I've said about safety aspects above for Yitty would still need to be prioritised, but with Jumbo there I think she'll settle quicker than if she went home with a dog she doesn't know. Once she has settled you will truly be the luckiest people, if I could spend all my time with these two, I absolutely would. They are just amazing!

Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.
