If you are interested in adopting a dog that does not say it can be homed with a cat and wish us to cat test please let us know and we will be happy to do this.

27-07-24 Please meet Jack! Jack is a gorgeous beagle who came to us from a breeder, although we are told he may have lived in a home at some point in his life.
Beagles are described as “merry hounds that are bold, with great activity, stamina and determination”… Jack could not be more beagle if he tried! He is happiest when his nose is to the ground, sniffing out the best smells. He loves his food and will sit and wait for his dinner. Jack gets very excited when you go into his kennel but has quickly learnt to sit and wait for his lead to be put on!
Now, Jack does take that beagle determination a bit further than your average dog. Jack doesn’t enjoy formal handling, and also needs careful introductions to other dogs. He can have quite big feelings and isn’t shy of letting us know when he’s not happy in a situation and so can sometimes choose to make the wrong decisions.
For the above reasons, Jack needs an experienced, adult only home with no visiting children. We feel with the right setup, somewhere safe and warm to cwtch up in bed and lots of stimulating human interaction he will thrive! He has potential to be an excellent canicross or scentwork dog with the right person.
Day-to-day Jack really is such a happy, easy boy to care for as long as his needs are met. Once he bonds with you he really is oh so sweet! We really feel that this clever boy will be such a rewarding dog to work with. He has a Pets Travel Document.

09-08-24 UPDATE

Having the opportunity to spend some time with Jack, I got to see what a little character he is!
He loves exploring when out walking and has lots of energy so would love an active home - you can usually find him with his nose stuck straight into the ground, sniffing out his environment and being a true beagle.
He is the type of dog who would enjoy walks and roaming around a garden or field and as he’s a more independent chap, is happy to mooch around and do his own thing. He would love someone who is happy in his company and wouldn't expect too much from him as he is independent

27-08-24 UPDATE

As per Jack's first update, this info is a must for adopting. Jack needs an experienced, adult only home with no visiting children. We actually feel Jack would be happiest living in an outdoor environment, as part of a pack that help to keep him busy and regulated. We feel with the right setup, somewhere safe and warm to cwtch up in bed and lots of stimulating human interaction he will thrive! He has potential to be an excellent canicross or scentwork dog with the right person. Jack is patiently waiting for someone to take an interest in him. He is attentive, playful and loving. He has his moments as stated in his last update, but if you spend a lot of time with him you can preempt his quirks, his moods and control/guide him very easily.....after all he is stuck in a kennel by himself and he gets incredibly bored. This in turn builds up stress and anxiety in him, why??? Jack just wants to be out and about, enjoying new experiences, meeting people and above all he needs to feel relaxed in his surroundings. While several staff have a good relationship with him, he still gets grumpy at times, but Jack has improved a lot. When out walking I've seen a few instances where other bigger dogs pass him and bark at him aggressively and he hasn't batted an eyelid...on the flip side, smaller or same size dogs make him want to interact and this is a balancing act with him. With some dogs it will be a quick sniff and a 'hello' and other dogs just seem to wind him up. We are actively working on this with him and he is improving. I feel he has definitely been in a home at some point, but possibly been left to his own devices and has learnt many bad habits. He is a wonderful boy to be with and would happily play, walk and have belly rubs all day long....what he is missing is full time love and attention and a solid training regime to help give him the best possible start in his new home, so we are looking for an experienced adopter that truly understands the breed and will be able to spend time with Jack and give him the devotion that he is literally pining for right now. As much as we correct his behaviour here, it really is doing him no good getting pent up in a kennel by himself. He just wants to be free, have fun, be loved, find his new master/mistress and know he is safe and finally in his forever home. I can only guess how much this will help him and also guess the wonderful changes that will occur in him. He deserves his chance and to be able to prove himself to you. There's nothing better than seeing a wet snout snuffeling through grass, happily taking in all the scents around him, with a waggy tail and a few doggy kisses along the way. It's time! Let's find Jack his forever home. As always read the previous update so you can get a sense of his journey. ... Jack is going in the right direction and we are all positive he is going to make the best companion/family member. If you have the experience and determination to help Jack, then please click on his link and apply to meet him. Specific questions are welcomed, just let the office know and we'll be happy to answer as best we can.

24-09-24 UPDATE

Meet Jack, a very handsome and energetic beagle who recently joined us from a breeder but is believed to have lived in a home at some point in his past. Jacks true beagle nature shines through in every way possible! With endless stamina, curiosity and a very active brain, Jack loves nothing more than to explore the world nose-first, sniffing out the best scents. Unfortunately Jack takes that typical beagle determination a little further than most. He’s not fond of formal handling, and needs careful introductions to other dogs as he’s been known to express himself when feeling uncomfortable or unsure. This means Jack sometimes makes decisions that aren’t always in his best interest. Jack needs an experienced, adult-only home without visiting children. Ideally, Jack would thrive in an outdoor setting, where he can be part of a pack, to help keep him mentally stimulated and under control, a safe, warm space to rest and plenty of human interaction and Jack would flourish. With his keen nose and energy, Jack has potential to excel in activities like canicross or scent work with the right person. In general Jack is an extremely happy, easy-going, gorgeous boy if his needs are met. Once he forms a bond with you, you’ll see his incredibly sweet and clever side. We believe working with Jack will be a truly rewarding experience for the right person.

28-10-2024 UPDATE

As someone who works with Jack almost every day I cannot express how amazing this boy is! I can only go off my relationship with him and all I can say is everyday I work with him he is good as gold for me. I will walk in to his kennel to get him ready to go for a walk or to take him to the yard, I’ll ask him to sit and he will do so straight away this is the same when I go in to give him his food he will sit for me straight away when I ask. I can feel that Jack has so much love to give and is so grateful for any love given to him. I will go to the back of his kennel and sit in his bed and as soon as he sees me sit down he will run straight to me to lie and roll around next to me while I give him lots of strokes he eventually falls asleep, this lasts for around 20 minutes before I have to force myself to get back to work. I gave him his first bath at the rescue and he was absolutely amazing, he let me pick him up and place him in the bath with no hesitations, he stood in the bath so patiently while I scrubbed and brushed him and to finish he sat so still for me to dry him with the hair dryer. I believe Jack mirrors exactly what you show him, if all you show him is love then that’s all he will show you. I do believe an experienced home with boundaries set from the get go is still the best home for him incase he displays different behaviours when in a home. He has become one of my favourites here at the rescue and I’m keeping my fingers and toes crossed that his perfect family find him before Christmas!

Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.
