28-05-24 Franklin is a handsome boy who has come from his breeder along with his brother. This boy is lovely but he is a little unsure at the moment as he hasnt seen much of the world before. He is very friendly and we don't think it will take him long to come out of his shell. He will need a home with another dog that can be his guide and show him all about home life. He will need to learn home skills such as house training and how to walk on a lead which will take time and so you will need to be patient and encouraging. He will need lots of training and socialisation to help him be the best he can be. Franklin is such a lovely boy who has so much to love to give. He has a PETS passport travel document that states he is a golden doodle although we think he looks more like a labrador cross.

13-07-24 UPDATE

When Franklin came to the rescue it was clear that he was a bit uncomfortable on his back leg. After an examination by the Vet he was diagnosed with a severely dislocated knee cap which he had likely had since birth.
Franklin has undergone urgent surgery on this to make him more comfortable as he grows but we have been told that he may need a second surgery on the same knee once he is an adult. We have also been told that his other knee cap has the same issue but to a much less problematic level (classed as a grade 2/5). He is doing very well on his 'other' leg and there is no indication for surgery at this time.
Franklin has gone through his surgery and recovery like an absolute superstar. He was very brave at the Vets and became a firm favourite there. The future is currently uncertain for Franklin. He may need further knee surgery/ surgeries or he may not need anything at all. Regardless of this, we are looking for very special owners for this sweet boy that do have the finances to undergo more work should he need it as this will not be covered by insurance. The Vet that performed the surgery has offered to help Franklin again in the future for a discounted price should it be required which is incredibly kind.
Franklin has obviously needed to rest after his surgery (which he thinks is rubbish!) so he has missed out on getting to run around lots with his brother and other friends in his foster home. This restricted exercise will need to continue for a little while longer yet so mental stimulation will be very important.
He is a very good boy on the lead and also has reasonably good recall when he has been let off for very short periods of time which we have been working on (although he gets very excited to get treats and needs to learn how to take treats gently!). He is such a perfect puppy and will sleep all night and loves snuggling up with us on the sofa or to our other dogs. He has met children of all ages and adores them but is a little too interested in cats so we will be looking for a cat free home so that he doesn't get into mischief.
Please don't overlook this boy just because of his knee problems. He really is one of the sweetest foster dogs we have ever had and deserves a chance to have a long, loving and happy life.

20-08-24 UPDATE

Franklin's recovery is going very well and the Vet was very pleased with his progress at his last check up. Since his surgery we feel that Franklin is in much less pain than he was before his op and his cheeky active side is coming out now. He loves going for nice walks, meeting and playing with other dogs but most of all he loves his food! He is really good in the car and has been camping with us several times which he absolutely loves! Franklin is such a fun boy, we really hope that he finds his forever home soon.

You will be asked to sign a contract confirming you will spay/neuter a puppy and we ask that a puppy attends puppy classes so they can socialise with other dogs and people.
