25-05-24 Meet Clyde! The most fantstic boy who has come to us to find his forever home. We've been told he lived in a home before he came to us which makes so much sense considering his lovely temperament. Clyde is a big boy who has the most wonderful personaility! He is so sweet and we just love him here. He is quite confident and so could be homed as an only dog as long as his adopters were around most of the time, but he could also be homed with other dogs of a similar size to him. He can already walk on a lead but is quite strong on this so his adopters will need to work with him on this. He will be looking for an active home where he can get lots of mental and physical stimulation and where he can go on lots of lovely walks and adventures. He will need lots of patience an dlove as he settles into his new home. He is a gentle giant and so can't wait to be someone's very special boy! Clyde will need a cat free home as they are far too interesting to him.

Ladies and gentlemen this friendly giant is Clyde, and he cannot wait to be loved and cherished by his family.
Clyde is a big boy and even though he's gentle and loving, he can pull on a lead which means he’d need someone strong enough to handle him while he learns. He can potentially go to a family with children 14+ as he can jump up to greet you and swamp you in love. He also loves walks and everything adventureous so an active family would be magical for him and for them.
He’s such a loving dog it would be a shame for a family to miss this opportunity to add to their household as we can only do so much here, the real growth is them finding a home full of love, patience and understanding.

01-07-24 UPDATE

This is big lovable Clyde!! As you’ve seen in some write ups he could go on his own, but he’s also been unbelievable with his kennel buddies! Today I wanted to take him away from the rescue and the sounds and smells and get him into the peace and quiet of a near by stream. As we approached he got calmer and calmer; all we could hear was the stream and the birds chirping. As soon as he saw the stream he was in! He loved playing around the shallow water and seems to be a little bit of a water hound! He loved having his own time and cuddles by the stream too. He is honestly so lovely and has so sadly been waiting half of his life for a home to cherish him! He deserves it and so much more! If you’re looking for a gorgeous, loyal companion then look no further than Clyde!

28-07-24 UPDATE

Clyde is a very handsome boy who loves going for a run and sniff in our big yard, and enjoys walks with lots of treats! He is a big, intelligent boy. He can jump up, so for this reason we would not home him with children, but we have been working on “off” and he is picking it up quickly.
Poor Clyde finds the noise in kennels overwhelming, but as soon as he is away from the noise he relaxes and turns into a completely different dog, who really loves a fuss. He has lived in a home before so it must be difficult for him being here.
Clyde has been kennelled with several different dogs of all sizes, and has had no issues, he does not really pay any attention to them until out in the big yard where he will run around. For this reason if he was homed with another dog, he would be better suited with a calmer resident dog that isn’t fussing him to play all the time, he is an older gentleman after all! Clyde is mostly kennel clean here, but may need a little refresher on house training after spending months in kennels.
If you have a quiet, loving home (with no cats or young children) then I’m certain Clyde would be your perfect dog.

Clyde appeared on my section today, I didn't know much about him but we hit it off ok. He's affectionate and I've not known a shepherd as food orientated as him, which will really help with his training. Clyde is strong on the lead, so I introduced him to a halti today. I expected it to be a nightmare, but Clyde was really good. Not too much head shaking and trying to get it off! We ended up having a lovely sedate walk, Clyde did rebel a little every now and then but coped so well, and walked without pulling. Clyde just wants love. He was happy to let me give him a good brushing, and rolled over for a belly rub when he'd had enough. For a GSD, he's doing ok in kennels, but i think he will soon settle down to being a pet quickly once his forever home is found.

21-08-24 UPDATE
How is this giant ball of life and fluff still waiting for his forever family to come and find him! It’s unbelievable that such a handsome man has garnered so little interest. The weather was actually nice for a change so we decided to go out for a lovely walk and Clyde has progressed so much with his lead walking! While still excited at the start, he soon settled into the rhythm of things and after a few minutes, walked like a real gentleman. This incredibly kind soul is doing his very best to be as good as he can be for his new people and we’ve seen such amazing progress that all the staff that care for him can’t wait to see him start his new chapter, and I know when his forever family finds them he will be an incredible companion for them.

Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.
