01-11-24 Stormy arrived at the rescue back in April, spending his whole life as a stud dog at a breeders before coming to us. He would have had little to no human interaction, so he just doesn’t understand the concept of us being his friend. He finds human hands very scary, but his biggest fear is being picked up as he still doesn’t know what our intentions are .. even after 7 months. His kennel mum has worked extremely hard with him to get to the point she’s at with him, but it has taken a lot of time, patience and TLC. He’s still extremely wary of strangers, especially men, so this is why he needs an extra special home with adopters who will work with him through his fears, but also love him and accept him no matter what. Stormy would love a quiet, adult only home, with at least 1 friendly and playful resident dog to be his buddy. He’s always at his happiest when he has a kennel friend who is equally as playful as he is, so it would be a dream come true to find him a forever best friend like this! He’s good with girls and boys, and dogs smaller than he is. He also absolutely LOVES really hard toys (like Nylabones) that he can chew on, so a house full of these would also be welcomed!! Stormy’s adopters will need experience with very scared or ex-breeding dogs, and have all the time in the world to help him navigate home life. He’s never been in a home before so everything will probably be very overwhelming for him for a while. He’ll need to learn all the basics such as house training and going up and down stairs, and then move on to conquer the outside world. Walking on a harness is a work in progress with him as he’s still very scared of any tension on the lead, so this is another thing his adopters will need to prepare for! When Stormy knows you, he’s extremely sweet and he wants to spend time with you and love you, just in his own little way. We really do believe that he’ll make a lot more progress in the right home, but it will take time. So please, give him a chance .. and never give up on him!

04-11-24 UPDATE

Yesterday I decided that I was going to give Stormy a very special day, spending lots of time with him and doing all his favourite things. He’s been with me for 7 months now and although he’s still happy, it’s a long time to be in kennels so I just want to make sure he doesn’t start getting sad or unhopeful. His progress has come to a little bit of a halt, so over the next couple of weeks I’m going to start doing some different things with him to see if it helps. He’s still very jumpy about being picked up, so I’m going to start setting up a crate in the back of his kennel so he’s more confined. I know this doesn’t sound very nice, but it should help him realise that he can stay put when I touch him, and that actually it feels quite nice!! I did this with another one of my very scared dogs and it worked really well, so I’m hoping it will do the same for Stormy. He’s such a good boy when I get him in my arms, as you can probably tell from the video, so if I can get him more comfortable with being picked up in the first place I think it will make a huge difference for him. I’ll keep you all updated on our progress!

04-12-24 UPDATE
Hi everyone, Stormy here! I asked my kennel mum if I could write my own update today and she said of course .. so hello!!!
I’ve been at Many Tears for over 6 months now and in that time I have learnt so much. All the humans here are very lovely and they’re doing quite a good job of looking after me and feeding me. They’re also teaching me that I don’t need to be afraid of them, which I am slowly understanding, but I do still have some trust issues because of my past. I do think I will eventually learn, but it might take me a little while longer. I would love to find my forever home soon. I think that would help me so much more than being at the rescue. My kennel mum says I’m such a good boy and I’ve made a lot of progress since my arrival, but nothing compares to being in a calm and quiet home environment with adopters who have all the time in the world for me. I promise I’ll try my best to be brave, but please be patient with me!
I’m signing off now but I’m keeping my paws crossed that my special people find me very soon. Wish me luck everybody!

12-12-24 UPDATE
Stormy currently has a very sore right ear, which is receiving treatment.

Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.
