If you are interested in adopting a dog that does not say it can be homed with a cat and wish us to cat test please let us know and we will be happy to do this.

19-03-24 Millie has come to us from a breeder to find her forever home. She has seen our vets and they have noted she has mature cataracts in her left eye and also has catarcats in her right eye but may have some sight. She also has a fatty lump on her left fore leg that will need to be monitored and may need further dental work in the future. She will be looking for a calm and quiet adult home where there is at least one other kind and confident dog who will be her friend, take her under their wing and guide her. With limited vision, she can be a little clumsy so would prefer her canine friends to be a similar size to her. She is a lovely girl who is initially quite shy but as we spent more time with her, her little tail started wagging away. We think with time, love and kindness she is going to enjoy being someones special girl and will start to love having a nice little fuss. The more time we spent with her, the happier she became, so we would love for her to find a home as soon as possible. She has never lived in a home before so her adopters will need to be kind and understanding as she settles in and learns all about home life and new skills like house training. She is a begginer to walking on a lead but we think she is going to really enjoy going on adventures with her new family. Millie is the sweetest girl who so deserves to spend her retirement years curled up on a nice cosy sofa, getting all the love she desires.

01-04-24 UPDATE

Millie is a treasure and, although she is blind, she is a very easy dog to look after. She quickly learned the layout of the house and navigates her way around, very successfully, even the two steps up to the front door and out to the back garden.
Millie is house trained and sleeps quietly all night with my other foster dog. She travels well in the car, loves her walks and meets all dogs beautifully. She can be left in the company of the other dogs without any problem, and just sleeps. She is always delighted when I reappear and greets me with wags and licks.
Millie is very friendly towards the cat but does tend to sniff her excitedly, and she has met my young grandchildren who she also sniffs enthusiastically!!! I have no previous experience of caring for a blind dog, but Millie is just a typical Labrador, and requires hardly any adjustments to keep her happy.

26-04-24 UPDATE

Dearest Millie continues to do brilliantly in foster. She is the most affectionate girl who loves attention and affection, and returns that one hundred fold. She has learned to climb in and out of the car, up and down stairs, and loves her daily walks. She needs to live with another dog or dogs but would prefer an older, more sedate companion who won’t jump all over her, as she can be a little clumsy she would also like this dog to be a similar size to her. Millie is a wonderful dog who deserves a home of her own.

15-05-24 UPDATE

Millie continues to be a pleasure to foster. She largely walks off lead now when we are in the park. She sticks close to me most of the time, but will wander short distances away to have a sniff with my dogs. She comes as soon as she is called. Millie knows all our daily routines and, being a Lab, loves her food and gets very excited at meal times. She is a wonderful dog who is now completely settled into home life, and you would hardly know she cannot see.

16-06-24 UPDATE

Millie continues to go from strength to strength in her foster home. She is now a typical friendly, waggy-tailed Labrador who loves her food and walks, and who doesn’t let her lack of sight stop her enjoying life.  She needs an owner who is sure footed as she occasionally walks or runs unexpectedly infront of you. She would also like a robust doggie companion who does not mind her occasional clumsiness as she snuggles up to them. Millie loves outings in the car and lies quietly during the journey. She recently enjoyed her first trip to the beach but wasn’t keen to dip her toes in the sea! Millie is a wonderful dog who is a joy to foster.

20-08-24 UPDATE

Millie continues to be a pleasure to foster. She is very well behaved at home and loves her walks. She walks confidently off lead, sniffing around and coming when she is called. She is very good with my 3 young grandchildren and loves all visitors. Millie needs another dog to keep her company, preferably a laid back, robust dog as Millie can be slightly clumsy until she knows the environment and has mapped it out for herself. Millie has been in foster for some time and it would be lovely for her to have a forever home.

Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.
