22-02-2024 This handsome boy is Milo and he is waiting for his very special person to find him.  So why does Milo need a special person? Well although he has lived in a home, walks on a lead and we are told is house trained, he is very nervous especially around males and it can take him a few minutes to warm up to you. He was returned to his breeder as he is food aggressive so needs to be fed separately and he does not get along with male dogs. We feel like he would be best suited to being homed as an only dog, but if he is homed with other dog they need to be female and preferably similar size or larger than him however he can live with a smaller female dog if the right match is found. We are looking for an adult only and experienced home who are happy to work with Milo. He needs a cat free home. With adopters who understand Milo's needs and have the knowledge and experience to work with him we are sure he will become a wonderful friend. He is recieving treatment for a mild ear infection.

05-03-24 UPDATE
I have looked after Milo since he arrived, having been told that he is food aggressive with people and can be fearful with men. So far I have not seen any of this, however I have been taking precautions, eg. feeding him seperate from other dogs and not rushing to take his bowl and definitely not taking his food bowl if he's still got food in it, and introducing him slowly and properly to strangers. He may not feel the need to show any food aggression because he knows I'm not going to take his food away.
I think with the right structure and guidance Milo will be an awesome companion in the right home. He is so full of love and asks for cuddles at any opportunity!
Milo can be mouthy when he is really excited, how I've been managing this is just ignoring him until he does a nice sit, then I fuss and reward for the sit. He'll get there, but here in a kennel environment it's hard for him to control his excitement when he has visitors in his kennel!
I really hope Milo won't be waiting here for too long.
Milo has also been going for walks with one of our experienced male volunteers Mal, Milo met Mal absolutely fine. He has about 40 minutes walk in the morning with Mal, and is still ready to go afterwards too, so needs an active home!

21-03-24 UPDATE

I have worked with Milo a few times and he is such a sweet boy. He does still get over excited when you enter his kennel, which his carers working on, but he just wants someone to be around to give him love and walks, how could he not get excited when we come back!? Once out on a walk he is an absolute pleasure, we worked on heal yesterday and he picked it up very fast. We also went into our large play area and he zoomed around so happy to be outside with lots of space. Kennel life must be hard on him when he knows the joys of being in a home. He is a very clever boy, who just wants to be loved. He adores a cuddle and a tickle around his ears. I hope he gets a home soon!

12-04-24 UPDATE

Having been Milo's main carer since he arrived I can honestly say what a gem. He's a gorgeous boy and hasn't put a paw wrong while he's been here. He can initially be nervous of strangers and bark at them but after a few minutes he comes around and asks for a fuss from them.
He's super affectionate, playful, and loves his long calm walks. He's awesome with other dogs and matches their playstyle lovely, if they get a little funny with him he just takes himself away which is so amazing.
Milo doesn't deserve to be waiting here, he's so desperate to have company more often than we can give. He would love an adult only home with humans with experience! Just in case any quirks come up, as sometimes they don't show in kennels but will come out in the home. I can't wait for the day I'll be saying goodbye to Milo and sending him off to his next chapter!

Milo, what a boy, what can I say about him that hasn't already been said? Once he feels comfortable around you he is such a sweet boy, he loves affection and will often put his paws up on me and bow his head waiting for you to give him a fuss, I think he would stay there and have cuddles and fusses all day if it were possible. He walks brilliantly on a lead and he knows a few tricks like sit, stay and heel. He is such a pleasure to work with and be around I honestly don't know how he hasn't been snapped up yet. He loves going out on walks and having playtime in the yard, he always gets on well with his kennel mates and we've had no trouble with him since being here. I absolutely adore Milo and think anyone who met him would too.

Milooooooo, the most a gorgeous boy ever. Milo has been here for ages now, and he’s such a happy soul that he takes it all in his stride, though it’s still sad to see him not able to live the active life he’s so desperate to have. All he needs is an experienced home to come along and give him all the love and walks he wants!
Milo is a super intelligent boy, and loves to learn which makes him extremely trainable. Recently we have been teaching him “stay” and “place”, and as he is very clever and loves treats, he got the hang of it super quick.
Milo loves going on walks and using his Beagle nose to sniff around. He loves rolling around in the grass, as well as running around in our big yard and jumping on all the equipment, I think he would really enjoy agility training! Overall he’s just so exciting to watch, and brings a smile to everyone’s face who meets him!
Milo is a happy boy, who adores his carers and still has s puppy like charm to him. Since arriving with us, we’ve taught him how to wear a muzzle as when it's busy he can startle from strangers easily, and get a bit overexcited. We felt it best to teach him this skill so his future adopters will have the pleasure of working with him already with skills he’s learnt.
Milo is truly an incredible boy that would love to be a fantastic addition to an active family’s home ?
