18-11-2023 Glow Worm is a very worried little boy who has come to us from a breeder to find his forever home. GLow Worm is feeling very overwhelmed at the moment and is not used to being handled so does panic if you try to pick him up and we are needing to use a towel at the moment to help us to lift him. He needs some practive with this along with gentle, kind and encouraging words and body language to help him to relax. Due to his fears he is looking for an experienced adopter who has had scared dogs before and an adult only home. Glow Worm gets on well with all other dogs here and he will need a home with a kind resident dog that he can copy around the house and snuggle up to. He has never lived in a home before so will need understanding adopters that can help him learn new skills such as housetraining and learning to walk on a harness/lead when he is ready. He will need regular trips to the groomers to ensure his coat is comfortable and manageable. He is an absolute gem who will thrive in a loving home. He has a PETS passport travel document.

28-12-23 UPDATE

Glowworm has had a trim since being with us and looks like a new dog!
He is still extremely nervous and is still wary of humans, he spends most of his time in the back of the kennel under the heat lamp with his kennel pals. He’s very shy when it comes to eating and won’t let you watch him, he’s also afraid of the noises the bowl makes so we usually feed him off the floor.
We’ve been working with him for a few weeks now and is slowly coming out of his shell bit by bit; But a loving home who can spend the majority of there time with him would really help this young boy!
An adult only home with no visiting children would be required and one with a confident resident dog in order for his confidence to bloom and to aid with his daily training.

28-01-24 UPDATE

It’s amazing what time can do! Glow Worm is starting to shine!  He still likes to spend his time under the warmth of the heat lamp but who wouldn’t with this weather! But now will happily approach the front of the kennel with his friends so see what’s what. Ruth his best friend brings out the best in him and they love to have a good run around in the yard. Glow Worm now has the confidence to not only eat from a bowl but also to eat along with his friends! Seeing him do this really made my day and we’re so proud of his progress!

26-02-24 UPDATE
Glow Worm is a very special boy who is looking for a very special person to dedicate their time and love in to helping him thrive. He is showing signs of relaxing and starting to enjoy things, especially dinner time and he does get very excited when he knows his dinner is coming.
He loves his kennel friends, he's good with males and females and has had little attempts at play, but they don't last long at the moment.
Glow Worm is looking for someone who is capable and willing of helping him progress (even though it shall be very slow) and who will be able to gently push him out of his comfort zone one tiny thing at time. This is not the environment for him to blossom and I know that with all the things he needs and plenty of time, he's going to be a wonderful companion for someone. He needs a home with no children, resident or visiting.

06-04-24 UPDATE

A magical moment happened this week with glow worm! For the first time since coming into the rescue he has willingly approached us and taken some squirty cheese right from our hands. This is a huge achievement for this wonderful boy who has struggled with human contact since arriving. Today we also managed to give him a bath and brushed him all over along with trimming his face. Unfortunately he has to be muzzled for this as he is still not truly trustful of humans. For future adopters this is something you would have to consider and possibly doing yourselves. Glowworm has achieved so much in just under a week, both of us that care for him are extremely proud of his progress

07-05-24 UPDATE

This boy is still waiting ever so patiently for someone to give him the chance of a warm loving home. Glow worm has proven to us that even the most scared dogs can flourish if given time. But kennels are holding him back and we think that an experienced home with plenty of time and patience will truly help this boy gain his trust with humans again.

04-06-24 UPDATE

Glowworm is still here waiting for someone to give him the time and patience he needs. Glowworm has had very little to no interest from both future adopters and fosters. He has progressed so much with his kennel mums but we feel we cannot push him anymore, he needs a calm home with a resident dog, who are around almost all the time for him to become the most amazing boy he possibly can be!
His latest big accomplishment was being fully shaved by his kennel mums, as we felt that he would be most comfortable around us and he did a fantastic job! Bathed, shaved, clipped and dried he looks like a new dog! He even allowed us to unmuzzle him to do his facial area.
We are both extremely proud of him as always, he is such a special boy who needs an equally special home. There must be someone out there who would be willing to give him the chance he deserves.

09-07-24 UPDATE

Glow worm is a very special boy who is really hoping that an equally special person finds him soon.
He is still in need of an experienced home that will slowly introduces new things, so he doesn't feel too overwhelmed. He has improved hugely with things such as being handled and being stroked by human hands, he is even starting to wear a harness to get used to the feeling, the next step will be a trialing lead, but this is going to be a worrying journey for him, so we shall do it as nicely as we can.
Glow worm is great with other dogs and absolutely LOVES his dinner time! He does such a happy excited dance when he hears us preparing it.
In the right home, this boy will thrive, but they are going to need to be prepared for a marathon and not expect it to be easy.
Safety is going to be absolutely paramount in his new home, he will require a very secure garden where no gates can be left open by accident. I really hope someone chooses him soon!

23-07-24 UPDATE

Week one in foster and Glow Worm (aka buddy) is starting to come out of his shell a little bit and allow us to fuss him, although he does give you that look and stiffen up a little sometimes. He relies heavily on other dogs and so would need a confident resident dog to show him all the things that home life offers and let him gain comfort from them. His house training is on going he loves his food and treats

20-08-24 UPDATE

Glow Worm is a lovely little lad who is starting to figure out home life. He is still very hand shy but when you do pick him up he will settle down a bit. We gave him a bath and he did panic at first but then was quite a good boy, he has definitely found his favourite spot on the sofa. He loves his food and treats and he gets on well with all the other dogs, his house training is ongoing. Glow Worm is patiently waiting for someone who will love him and take things at his pace.

21-11-2024 UPDATE

Glow worm (aka buddy) is a still quite a handshy little lad but does allow you to pick him up and handle him when needed. His house training is still ongoing and he's found his voice when it comes to food or treat time! Glow worm has started to show an interest in playing with toys and some of our other dogs as well as starting to chew on his nylon bones. Glow worm is a lovely little lad who is looking for someone who will understand his needs and allow him to come on at his own pace. He would also need resident dog to help him learn and progress also any potential adopties will need to be aware of his grooming needs. He is really is a handsome boy.

Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.
