Location: In Foster in Leonard Stanley, Gloucestershire |
03-04-24 Flicka is a beautiful but also very nervous girl who originaly came to us from a breeder but has sadly been returned as she was very sacared and unable to settle in her new home. She needs very gentle handling as she is very nervous around people. Flicka needs a very experienced, adult only home as children would overwhelm her. Flicka is really a kind and gentle girl and if you sit quietly with her she will sniff you hand. The most important thing in the world to Flicka is her friends she is much more confident around them and loves to play with them, snuggle them, clean them. Basically they are her everything and will need at least one kind resident dog who will be happy to be her friend. Flicka still needs to learn about house training, walking on a lead and her foster mum will help her to learn these skills. In a quiet, calm home who have the time and patience to help Flacka learn she is loved she will begin to shine.
11-08-2024 UPDATE
Flicka has come along very well in the last few weeks. She came to me as a very scared girl who just ran from you at every opportunity but now she is beginning to feel safe I can pick her up and make a fuss of her! She LOVES doing zoomies around the garden and coming for treats which she will now take out of my hand.
Flicka will need an experienced home as she still has a way to go and of course another friendly dog that she can share her bed with (she likes to have a cuddle). She does now follow me around and loves to sit of the sofa on an evening to watch TV. Flicka is a cheeky happy girl that just needs a understanding forever home to give her time to find herself!
05-09-24 UPDATE
Flicka is going from strength to strength here but still remains very nervous of humans, she does follow both myself and my other dog around and is a very happy cheeky Bichon. She mastered walking on a lead first time around and now gets VERY excited when I start to walk towards the door, as yet I don’t know what her reaction will be if it’s raining outside as most Bichons HATE the rain! She loves other dogs and meets them with a waggy tail on all her walks. She will go up to some people for a treat but can be discerning who she trusts!
She is dry in the house but obviously will need reminding in her new home. She still needs to be approached slowly as I believe she would bite if she felt threatened but she has never tried with me so an experienced home would be needed with no children and visiting children would need to be monitored (I’ve had young children here and she just takes to her bed and watches them from afar).
She now really needs to be in her forever home to start the next part of her life.
20-11-24 UPDATE
So this is Flicka AKA Bonnie, she really has moved forward since her last update and is more and more confident every day. She will still need a lot of patience and time to settle into her new family, which needs to be a quiet home with no children. She LOVES going for a walk and will walk all day if she can. As you can see from the picture she is just lovely with other dogs and is quite happy to be used as a pillow!!!
Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.
PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.
