27-08-24 Grace is a darling girl who was originally adopted in 2021 from the rescue when she came over from Romainia to find a better life. Grace has been through a lot in the last 9 months and had an accident which resulted in a suspected slipped disc in November 2023, she has had to undergo crate rest, medication and physiotherapy but has since recovered and now walks with a slight arch to compensate. Grace will be checked over by our vets and they will update further, she currently needs to be checked over by a female vet as she is scared of men. At the new daycare Grace was very scared and retreated into a crate to hide in and did make the wronf decision with her owners. Grace has obviously been through a lot and needs a very calm quiet home where she can settle in a secure environment with little comings and goings. Grace is looking for adult only experienced adopters that can help her build on her confidence and positive experiences, she will need a home where she can just settle in one envrioment preferable with no visitors.

Grace will need to be an only dog in the home as she likes her space and loves being your one and only true love! Grace is a very sweet girl once she knows you but is so overwhelmed to find herself in kennels, she is definitely a dog that thrives in a quiet calm environment. She is wary of strangers but after a few calm minutes she is happy to do some tricks for you (she's a very smart girl!!) She isn't an overly active girl and enjoys a laid back lifestyle.

Grace will need an experienced home as she does resource guard food or bedding at times so will need help and boundaries in place.
Grace is very frightened of men especially tall/large in stature and will show her discomfort and warn them away, we are currently working at positive interactions with Grace and male staff members and she is improving everyday, however this will need to be continued in her new home! We've been told she is scared of anyone holding sticks (even walking sticks) so her adopters will need to be mindful of the situations and environments they put her in so that she can thrive and start to build herself back up. Grace is a special girl who will be your best friend in time but needs that special home that can listen to her needs and help her feel safe and heard. Grace has tested negative for brucellosis and her medical notes with this can be forwarded to her new adopters vets. Grace has a passport.

14-09-24 UPDATE

Grace has come on leaps and bounds since I last worked with her and although timid with new people, she is trying her best to fit into kennel life despite living in a home for a few years. Initially, Grace was very shell shocked to come back to kennels. The sounds are overwhelming and it’s an environment she’s been in before which must make it that little bit more scary. She’s a sensitive soul and I must say she's one of the best walkers here. She doesn't pull, just trots right besides you perfectly and these moments when she’s away from the kennels is what she craves. If you are thinking of adopting her you may need to come up a few times for her to know you as she can be shy with new people. She's a beautiful medium to small girl who has so much to give please don't leave her here anymore.

27-09-24 UPDATE

Grace is a super star and has been making so much progress here, we are all so proud of her. For the last two weeks she has really started to conquer her fear of men and has let me (a tall man) be her caretaker. Over this time she has really started to relax and show me that she's still got so much happiness and is just as inquisitive of a puppy. She loves zooming around our exercise yard and will even beeline to it on her walks as she just loves the freedom of being able to run and sniff at her leisure. Whoever adopts this little angel is going to get such an incredible and loving best friend. Grace gives paw, jumps up onto platforms and will sit or pretty much anything for a treat! She loves a good scratch on her neck and will happily give you kisses once she has gained some trust! She is getting better by the day with men and we are ready to continue building her trust!

29-10-2024 UPDATE

My little Gracie where do I start with this absolute darling of a girl. The progress she has made since arriving at the rescue has been something truly amazing to see. When she first arrived with us she was extremely nervous and any of the men going in to her kennel was a complete no no, flash forward a couple of weeks and she is super excited when she sees you coming towards her kennel whether you are a women or a man she’s happy to see you! She is the daintiest little thing ever and is a proper little princess. She is 100% house trained, walks lovely on the lead and is non reactive to other dogs when out on a walk. Although she still doesn’t like to share her space with other dogs she now enjoys having play dates and will spend 15 minutes down our big yard going crazy! I had the pleasure of taking her out of the rescue for an hour and we went for a little walk around a reservoir and of course she was a delight. We took a pit stop at the cafe to buy some utterly mutterly ice cream for her and she was amazing in the cafe and just sat by my side while I ordered and paid, even though the cafe was busy with other dogs it didn’t phase her. I cannot put in to words how truly sweet and perfect this girl is and it breaks my heart everyday seeing her in kennels. I pray she finds her way back in to a happy and loving home before Christmas!

07-12-24 UPDATE

When Grace first arrived with us, she was extremely nervous, especially of men, but since then, she has really learned to trust and has shown us just how wonderful she is once you befriend her. Now, even some of here favourite kennel staff are male!
She can be a little vocal when in her kennel if someone walks past, but if you meet her outside, she doesn’t make a peep and if you approach her gently for a fuss, she will politely accept.
She is looking for a home as an only dog, although she socialises extremely well with all sorts of dogs, she doesn’t like to share her space with them. Grace would like an adult only home with experienced adopters who will understand she may be overwhelmed during yet another big transition when she moves back into a home.
I cannot put in to words how rewarding it is to work with this girl everyday, seeing how much she has changed from the day she arrived is a journey I’m honoured to be apart of. My only wish is that little Grace is back in to a home by Christmas with people.
