26-03-2020 - Amethyst is a 2 year old Boxer who has come to us from a breeder. She has sore eyes which we are treating and she may need ongoing eye drops to help her stay comfortable.
Amethyst is ever so scared of the world right now. Amethyst is going to need lots of time, love and patience to bring her out of her shell. As Amethyst is so worried at the moment she will benefit from an adult only home that have experience of ex breeding dogs and she will need another dog in her new home that she can look to for guidence. Amethyst is starting to learn how to walk with a harness on but she knows nothing of home life and so she is not toilet trained.
Amethyst has a passport.

30-03-20 UPDATE
Amethyst has been with us just over a week now and she has started to settle although it will take her time to feel comfortable meeting new people. She is learning routine and etiquette from her confident kennel friend Quiz and will come out/go back into her kennel after using the play-yard throughout the day. Amethyst is a nervous girl on her own and is very wary of people approaching or interacting with her, even to show affection. With patience and Quiz close by for reassurance though I am able to handle her, do her eye medication and pick her up when needed. Although Ameythyst remains very fearful I don't feel worried at all being in her presence and she has not shown me any sign of reacting out of fear. She will sometimes let out a nervous growl to warn off a perceived threat but this is only if we are trying to get her into a corner to pick her up.
She is slowly learning to trust the staff who work with her on a daily basis but she will need another resident dog in her new home to take her under their wing and help her learn all the things there are to experiencing a better life in a caring loving household. At the moment she would be best suited to an adult only home.
Once this beautiful girl has learnt that the new people in her life mean her no harm, she will soon show her true side and become the confident playful dog she is destined to be! Please check out her ongoing progress in the videos above showing her over time and in different situations.
✔️ Will need a resident dog at home
✔️ Adult only home preferred
✔️ Learning to walk on a harness
✔️ Shy but outgoing around other dogs

10-04-20 UPDATE

Amethyst is progressing well and I think part of this is because we have had to handle her twice a day to put her eye drops in, the drops have now finished so we'll need to make time to keep handling her. I sat in her kennel today and waited for her to come up to me, which she did once her more confident kennel mate had, she took treats from my hand and once they had gone she gave me a good sniff all over, but shied back when I tried to touch her.
Amethyst needs a confident dog to learn from and to be handled and I think she'd come on really quickly in a home, she is a happy and playful girl and loves to go out to play in the yard and race around with her kennel mate

14-05-20 UPDATE

Amethyst Boxer has been here in foster for a week now, and it has been a week of fun and frolics for her. She has absolutely loved playing here in the garden with her doggie friends, older younger bigger and smaller, and her favourite game is doing zoomies round the house and garden, she literally flies out the backdoor into the air with the happiest smile you’ve ever seen.
Amethyst is quite wary of being touched by kind human hands, we haven’t pushed her and she has really progressed in the last few days and is happily accepting being stroked and touched whilst she is dozing on the sofa next you. It is a real adjustment for doggies coming into a home, learning about the hoover, the washing machine, tv and family life, and Amethyst is really enjoying being with us all.
She likes the whole family and happily potters about following you round the house. Amethyst is clean in the house, not one accident, she loves her food, especially if I hold the bowl for her to eat out of it. Princess Amethyst is waiting for you to find her!

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.

If your application is successful you will be home checked and you, all members of your family and any dog(s) who will be living with the dog MUST come to meet the dog you want to adopt. All our dogs are micro-chipped, have had at least their first inoculation* and are spayed/neutered unless there is a medical reason for not doing so. You must have a safe means of transporting the dog home in a crate or if this is not possible please discuss with Many Tears or the Fosterer when your application is being processed.
* Many Tears uses Vanguard to vaccinate their dogs.  However, this can sometimes be difficult to source at local vets so if you are adopting a dog or puppy that has only had one vaccination please be aware your vets may require you to start the course from the beginning.

Please read our adoption procedures before applying and then complete the adoption form.
