If you are interested in adopting a dog that does not say it can be homed with a cat and wish us to cat test please let us know and we will be happy to do this.

3-10-19 - Esme is a Cav cross Cocker who has come from a breeder. She has come to us very frightened but once she settled she was happy and playful with the dogs in her kennel. She is very pretty and sweet but we are going to pop her into the vets so we can have her eyes checked out as she doesn't seem to see very well. We will update on this when we can. Esme is such a sweet, kind and meek girl who gets on great with other dogs. She will need to learn all about housetraining and other such skills but she is going to be so worth your time and love.

08-10-19 UPDATE

Esme doesn't need to see you to show you unconditional love, she is the sweetest, kindest and most innocent dog I've met in my many years at the rescue.
Esme is a 1yr Cav X Cocker who arrived with us a few days ago and after settling in it was apparent that she couldn't see anything, despite her eyes looking like any other dogs, this is most likely something she was born with. Our vet has looked at her and unfortunately nothing can be done to restore her vision. She deals with her lack of sight exceptionally well, she charges around in the sandschools like any other dog, she is very well co-ordinated and if you are nearby she will simply follow your voice until she reaches you and gets the cuddles she adores so much. I keep the kennel layout the exact same and she deals with it with remarkably well.

Esme loves other dogs, she is often sighted at the peak of a doggy bundle, she curls in as tight as she can with them and it's where she feels her safest, it goes without saying that Esme needs another dog to help her into her first taste of home life and to be her guide and her rock. Esme LOVES people, she ideally needs a home where she has somebody around her all of the time. She's the kinda girl who will want to be around her human('s) as much as possible, she'd love to share a bed with you and snooze on the sofa with you in the evenings.
Esme still has a way to go with harness/lead walking and will need a lot of guidance with things like house training, which she will need the support of you and your dog('s). She needs a quiet and calm environment to thrive, ideally without young children who would easily spook her. Kennels is no place for a blind dog, please share and help Esme find her special forever home!

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.

ADOPTION DETAILS
The adoption fee for an adult dog (6 months and over) is £220 and for a puppy is £250, However if the dog has a passport you will be given this when you adopt and we ask for a further £20 to help us buy a passport for another dog. You will find a break down of what the adoption fee covers under our Adoption Procedures (see link below) If your application is successful you will be home checked and you, all members of your family and any dog(s) who will be living with the dog MUST come to meet the dog you want to adopt. All our dogs are micro-chipped, have had at least their first inoculation and are spayed/neutered unless there is a medical reason for not doing so. You must have a safe means of transporting the dog home in a crate or if this is not possible please discuss with Many Tears or the Fosterer when your application is being processed.

In certain circumstances and in particular when it is one of our long term stayers or a dog who is difficult to home we may transport it down the M4 as far as Reading if the adopter is not able to travel for a valid reason. This will only happen on a Sunday and will be part of our Foster Run where we transport dogs to their foster homes. There will be and additional charge of £20 transport fee for this and the adopter must be able to travel to the allocated service station. Please think very carefully before asking for a dog to be transported as if you already have a dog there is no guarantee they will get along with the new dog or vice versa and you will need to be able to hold on to the dog until the following week and meet the van again if you wish to return the dog.

Please read our adoption procedures before applying and then complete the adoption form.
