06-09-19 Little Alma came to us from a breeder. She is a very sweet girl who deserves someone to show her some tlc. She is quite shy at the moment and tends to shy away when you try to approach her. She needs another dog around to bring her out of her shell and show her the big wide world. nother dog can also show her about housetraing and other such home skills.

20-12-19 UPDATE
Alma has been on the section I work for over 2 weeks now and her confidence has improved. She is no longer as frightened of people as she used to be but she is still on guard with strangers until she gets to know you and feels comfortable with your presence. Alma will let you stroke her if she trusts you but it does take a little more patience to handle her. Once in your arms though she will settle down and it's these moments we are trying to get her used to, as well as feel comfortable with wearing a harness. Soon we hope to post a video of her out and about with her training so you can see her progress but ideally she would come along so much faster if she had a loving home to go to now. She really deserves her chance after coming to us way back in early September and is still with us coming up to Christmas.
Hopefully there is someone out there reading this who is or knows someone else that is looking for a new companion who will in return repay that kindness with love and affection. Alma would be very grateful to find a place to call her own before the New Year so please have her in your thoughts if you feel you can provide her with what she needs.

23-01-20 UPDATE

Alma (known as Poppet here) has been in foster with me for 3 weeks and although she's still finding it difficult to trust, she's definitely improving. Originally she wouldn't eat if I was anywhere in her vicinity, but she now joins my dogs as long as she knows where I am. She's still not keen on being picked up, but she likes to sit next to me on the sofa, enjoys being stroked and takes treats from my hand (she loves cheese).
Today she actually wagged her tail and started to play with my dogs which was wonderful to see. Her house training is progressing well, but she needs regular access to the garden. I'll be starting her harness/lead training this week.
When she arrived her coat was a mess so I have clipped her off - she was wary and frightened, but we got there in the end. Her coat will need further attention. Alma will definitely need a kind gentle dog to live with and I think she would prefer a quiet home without children.
This little girl needs time and patience to take her forward and help her realise that life can be kind - if you feel you can help, please apply.

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.

ADOPTION DETAILS

**FOR THE LATEST INFORMATION REGARDING CORONAVIRUS COVID-19 AND HOW IT IS AFFECTING MANY TEARS AND OUR ADOPTIONS PROCEDURES PLEASE CLICK HERE BEFORE APPLYING FOR ANY DOGS**
The adoption fee for an adult dog (6 months and over) is £220 and for a puppy is £250, However if the dog has a passport you will be given this when you adopt and we ask for a further £20 to help us buy a passport for another dog.
Large breed dogs over 25kg cost us considerably more  to spay and neuter so if you are adopting a large breed dog we would be very grateful of an extra suggested donation of £10 towards this increased cost to help us keep running.
If your application is successful you will be home checked and you, all members of your family and any dog(s) who will be living with the dog MUST come to meet the dog you want to adopt. All our dogs are micro-chipped, have had at least their first inoculation* and are spayed/neutered unless there is a medical reason for not doing so. You must have a safe means of transporting the dog home in a crate or if this is not possible please discuss with Many Tears or the Fosterer when your application is being processed.
* Many Tears uses Vanguard to vaccinate their dogs.  However, this can sometimes be difficult to source at local vets so if you are adopting a dog or puppy that has only had one vaccination please be aware your vets may require you to start the course from the beginning.

Please read our adoption procedures before applying and then complete the adoption form.
