04-09-2019 - Duo came to us along with other dogs from a breeder. They are all so gorgeous and friendly!!  Duo is a sweet and friendly girl and much happier when around other dogs. She enjoys a walk and walks well on a lead. Once she gets to know you she loves a good cuddle. She can be the only dog in the house but prefers to be with other dogs and she will learn housetraining more easily with a kind dog to follow. Please give her a chance.

17-09-19 UPDATE

Duo has settled here magnificently.  She is incredibly confident, adores people and really does give the best cuddles! Today she showed us a glimpse of what owning her would be like as she took to the new sofa in her play yard and refused to move from it, rolling over on her back on it every time I tried to get her back im her kennel!
When she's not lazing around on the couch, Duo is either out walking or in her kennel with her friends. She walks perfectly on a lead, enjoys sniffing every blade of grass in typical Bassett style and meets other dogs brilliantly whilst out. Duo is currently kenneled with a smaller Male Shih X and a bigget Female Cocker, she gets on perfectly with any dogs she is kenneled with and hasn't even looked like being any trouble. She would be fine rehomed with any other dogs, regardless of gender or size. As she is so confident, she could also go as an only dog to the right home, the right home being one with a sofa by the looks of it! If Duo were to go as an only dog, she would need people around a lot as she doesn't like being without company, be it dog or human, for any great length of time.
Duo is a super girl, and appears as if she'd be a very easy, affectionate, loving lady in her forever home. If you can offer Duo her first special home, please consider applying for her and coming to meet her!

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.

ADOPTION DETAILS
The adoption fee for an adult dog (6 months and over) is £220 and for a puppy is £250, However if the dog has a passport you will be given this when you adopt and we ask for a further £20 to help us buy a passport for another dog. You will find a break down of what the adoption fee covers under our Adoption Procedures (see link below) If your application is successful you will be home checked and you, all members of your family and any dog(s) who will be living with the dog MUST come to meet the dog you want to adopt. All our dogs are micro-chipped, have had at least their first inoculation and are spayed/neutered unless there is a medical reason for not doing so. You must have a safe means of transporting the dog home in a crate or if this is not possible please discuss with Many Tears or the Fosterer when your application is being processed.

In certain circumstances and in particular when it is one of our long term stayers or a dog who is difficult to home we may transport it down the M4 as far as Reading if the adopter is not able to travel for a valid reason. This will only happen on a Sunday and will be part of our Foster Run where we transport dogs to their foster homes. There will be and additional charge of £20 transport fee for this and the adopter must be able to travel to the allocated service station. Please think very carefully before asking for a dog to be transported as if you already have a dog there is no guarantee they will get along with the new dog or vice versa and you will need to be able to hold on to the dog until the following week and meet the van again if you wish to return the dog.

Please read our adoption procedures before applying and then complete the adoption form.
