31-05-19 - Cookie is a nervous ex breeding Cocker Spaniel who has not seen much of the world before. She will hide from you if you try to go near her as she does not understand why we would want to spend time with her. She is a very pretty girl who is going to need alot of time, patience and TLC. Cookie will need another dog in her new home to help her relax and show her new skills like house training.

19-06-19 UPDATE
Cookie is still a little nervous but is showing signs of improvement. She loves playing with her kennel buddies and is getting braver when they are around and will now come up to you.
She will take a treat from the staff she works with but is still too nervous of strangers. She gets on with other dogs so homing her with others should be easy.
Cookie will need to learn all about house training in her forever home so patience will be needed along with friendly dogs or dog to help settle and train.

20-07-19 UPDATE

Cookie has been with us a few weeks now. She is slowly starting to trust me and has a waggy tail and always happy to see me. Cookie has started to come over to me an sniff and she is copying this from her kennel friends.
Cookie is a sweet beautiful lady with such a pretty face, however she is very nervous of people as she not sure what we will do to her.
Her confidence is growing and she slowly coming around to sniffing and coming of to me. She will let you pick her up but is nervous.
When it's time for play in the yard she cant wait to get out and happily runs around the yard enjoying herself. She has also started to play with the ball and chase after it which is lovely to see!
Cookie gets alot of confidence from her kennel friends who she gets on well with. She does not walk on the lead yet but I I tried putting on a harness and taking her to the gardens but she got really frightened so I just sat with her for a bit.
We will work on this so she can get use to the outside world. Cookie will make a great part of the family when she trusts and comes out of her shell. So she will need a calm home with a kind calm dog and no children at the moment so she can start to trust and have a lovely life that she deserves

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.

ADOPTION DETAILS
The adoption fee for an adult dog (6 months and over) is £220 and for a puppy is £250, However if the dog has a passport you will be given this when you adopt and we ask for a further £20 to help us buy a passport for another dog. You will find a break down of what the adoption fee covers under our Adoption Procedures (see link below) If your application is successful you will be home checked and you, all members of your family and any dog(s) who will be living with the dog MUST come to meet the dog you want to adopt. All our dogs are micro-chipped, have had at least their first inoculation and are spayed/neutered unless there is a medical reason for not doing so. You must have a safe means of transporting the dog home in a crate or if this is not possible please discuss with Many Tears or the Fosterer when your application is being processed.

In certain circumstances and in particular when it is one of our long term stayers or a dog who is difficult to home we may transport it down the M4 as far as Reading if the adopter is not able to travel for a valid reason. This will only happen on a Sunday and will be part of our Foster Run where we transport dogs to their foster homes. There will be and additional charge of £20 transport fee for this and the adopter must be able to travel to the allocated service station. Please think very carefully before asking for a dog to be transported as if you already have a dog there is no guarantee they will get along with the new dog or vice versa and you will need to be able to hold on to the dog until the following week and meet the van again if you wish to return the dog.

Please read our adoption procedures before applying and then complete the adoption form.
