If you are interested in adopting a dog that does not say it can be homed with a cat and wish us to cat test please let us know and we will be happy to do this.

22-02-2019 - Taco is a 4 year old male Shar Pei who has come to us from a breeder. Taco is a wrinkly,  sweet and waggy boy who walks on a lead and loves his food. Taco is an inquisitve little chap who loves a fuss and in the right circumstances could be homed as an only dog but he does very much love his kennel friends but he is not so keen on cats so needs a cat free home. Apart from cats Taco is a very chilled boy and we think at some time in his life he may have lived in a home and could be house trained although we can't guarantee it.

I took Taco for a walk today and it was an absolute pleasure.  He is a lovely friendly boy who walks really nicely on the lead.

11-03-19 UPDATE

Taco is such an easy and loving boy who is totally wasted in kennels. He is kennel clean, could easily be an only dog and just adores humans. He loves a good bum scratch and will happily walk for miles. He could go to a home with children as young as five as he is a very chilled guy. If you feel that you have a Taco shaped whole in your life then please do fill in an application form so he can live the life he deserves. Please do research Shar Peis so you have an understanding of his breed.

18-03-19 UPDATE

Taco is possibly one of the most friendliest, calmest and relaxed dogs that we have here at Many Tears. During having his photos taken, he met a horse, ran next to a bicycle and walked up some stairs. The chances are that these were his first experiences with such things, yet he took them in his stride because that is who he is, calm, relaxed and comfortable with life.
I would say he is house trained, in fact he can not stand having to go to toilet in his kennel.
Taco is also a joy to walk on the lead and does love his walks.
No dog deserves to spend their lives in kennels but Taco really shouldn't be here still as he is such a well mannered dog.

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.

The adoption fee for an adult dog (6 months and over) is £220 and for a puppy is £250, However if the dog has a passport you will be given this when you adopt and we ask for a further £20 to help us buy a passport for another dog. You will find a break down of what the adoption fee covers under our Adoption Procedures (see link below) If your application is successful you will be home checked and you, all members of your family and any dog(s) who will be living with the dog MUST come to meet the dog you want to adopt. All our dogs are micro-chipped, have had at least their first inoculation and are spayed/neutered unless there is a medical reason for not doing so. You must have a safe means of transporting the dog home in a crate or if this is not possible please discuss with Many Tears or the Fosterer when your application is being processed.

In certain circumstances and in particular when it is one of our long term stayers or a dog who is difficult to home we may transport it down the M4 as far as Reading if the adopter is not able to travel for a valid reason. This will only happen on a Sunday and will be part of our Foster Run where we transport dogs to their foster homes. There will be and additional charge of £20 transport fee for this and the adopter must be able to travel to the allocated service station. Please think very carefully before asking for a dog to be transported as if you already have a dog there is no guarantee they will get along with the new dog or vice versa and you will need to be able to hold on to the dog until the following week and meet the van again if you wish to return the dog.

Please read our adoption procedures before applying and then complete the adoption form.
