If you are interested in adopting a dog that does not say it can be homed with a cat and wish us to cat test please let us know and we will be happy to do this.

18-1-19 Poppy is an ex-breeding cocker spaniel.  She is frightened and shies away but does relax slowly when she realises our intentions aren't bad and allows us to gently handle and stroke her  Poppy is going to need a lot of time and patience to settle into life in a home as this will be new and scary for her at first. Another kind dog or dogs already living there is essential as she will watch and copy what they do which will help her with house training and lead walking.  These things will not happen over night so time and patience is also essential.

12-02-19 UPDATE

Meet Poppy - what a beautiful girl she is.  I've been working with Poppy a couple of weeks now and she is starting to come out if her shell with me. She now has a big waggy tail when she sees me will approach the kennel front to let me fuss her.
Poppy is a happy girl loves to be running around in the yard with her beagle friends. She does this little thing with her feet when she's happy which is lovely!  Poppy will let me stroke and cuddle her now which she now seems to enjoy,
Today we did some harness training and she did very well. She loves to be with other dogs and greats them all well - she's definitely more confident with another dog around.  Poppy did well with her walking even if she was doing her own thing but this will come in time especially with another's doggy friend to learn from. When out she did let people approach her but was nervous as she's still unsure of most people.
Poppy will need to go to a home with another resident dog to hel her learn about toilet training and harness training will also need to be done.  She is such a sweet loving girl that so deserves her special home.

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.

The adoption fee for an adult dog (6 months and over) is £220 and for a puppy is £250, However if the dog has a passport you will be given this when you adopt and we ask for a further £20 to help us buy a passport for another dog. You will find a break down of what the adoption fee covers under our Adoption Procedures (see link below) If your application is successful you will be home checked and you, all members of your family and any dog(s) who will be living with the dog MUST come to meet the dog you want to adopt. All our dogs are micro-chipped, have had at least their first inoculation and are spayed/neutered unless there is a medical reason for not doing so. You must have a safe means of transporting the dog home in a crate or if this is not possible please discuss with Many Tears or the Fosterer when your application is being processed.

In certain circumstances and in particular when it is one of our long term stayers or a dog who is difficult to home we may transport it down the M4 as far as Reading if the adopter is not able to travel for a valid reason. This will only happen on a Sunday and will be part of our Foster Run where we transport dogs to their foster homes. There will be and additional charge of £20 transport fee for this and the adopter must be able to travel to the allocated service station. Please think very carefully before asking for a dog to be transported as if you already have a dog there is no guarantee they will get along with the new dog or vice versa and you will need to be able to hold on to the dog until the following week and meet the van again if you wish to return the dog.

Please read our adoption procedures before applying and then complete the adoption form.
