If you are interested in adopting a dog that does not say it can be homed with a cat and wish us to cat test please let us know and we will be happy to do this.

23-1218 Mianda is a 2 year old Newfoundland, who has come to us to find her forever home. Mianda is a gorgeous soft girl! She will come up to you for a fuss and already walks well on the lead! Mianda is limping on her right front leg and needs an X-ray so we can see what's causing the problem and we will update about this later or can discuss with any potential adopter.  She will need to be house trained and will learn this much more easily with another dog to watch and copy.  However, within experienced owners who really understand she had never lived in a home and are prepared to work though any issues we would consider homing her as an only dog.  You would need to be at home most of the time and build her up to being left. Mianda would really  benefit with owners who have had this particular breed before. She has a passport.

30-12-18 UPDATE

Mianda was sent for X-rays of her hips. These came back showing nothing wrong but she clearly has problems as she only walks a little way before lying down. We are hoping to get to the bottom of this, and the specialist seeing Melly the Newfoundland she came in with has agreed to see Mianda as well. She is currently on pain killers and is walked for a maximum of 3 minutes 4 times a day.  She is clearly suffering We are so very grateful to those who have donated towards Melly operation and depending on what the specialist says we may need to fund raise for Mianda as well. Both these dogs are so kind and gentle and both deserve the chance of loving homes so please help us if you can and excess money raised for Melly will be used towards Mianda's vet cost.

02-01-19 UPDATE
Mianda is currently with Sylvia at the specialist vet who has confirmed that she has bilateral cruciate ligament disease and consequently severe osteoarthritis in both knee joints. She will need TPLO operation in both knees in order to improve her quality of life. This operation is very costly but is the only chance she has of living a happy, normal  life and so she is scheduled to have this on Friday morning.
We will need to fundraise to pay for this surgery and we would be so grateful for any donations for Mianda to enable her to have the gift of a pain free life where she can enjoy exploring her new world. Please keep this special girl in your thoughts.

03-01-18 UPDATE

Poor Miranda will be having two operations, one on Friday and one on Monday. The vet says there is no guarantee she will get full mobility from these opps, but it will certainly help her be in less pain. She will then need a quiet home who do not want to walk miles, or over feed her. She and Melly are really special ladies.

05-01-19 UPDATE
Mianda had her right leg operated on yesterday. We are told it was quite a difficult operation due to the severe arthritis in her knee, but in the end it was successful. We are now waiting for the next surgery on Monday morning and hopefully will come back to us here on Tuesday.

08-01-19 UPDATE

Mianda has had her second operation on her sore legs now.
She is doing well and going to a foster home to recuperate tomorrow
Thank you to all who have helped her and her friend Melly

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.

The adoption fee for an adult dog (6 months and over) is £220 and for a puppy is £250, However if the dog has a passport you will be given this when you adopt and we ask for a further £20 to help us buy a passport for another dog. You will find a break down of what the adoption fee covers under our Adoption Procedures (see link below) If your application is successful you will be home checked and you, all members of your family and any dog(s) who will be living with the dog MUST come to meet the dog you want to adopt. All our dogs are micro-chipped, have had at least their first inoculation and are spayed/neutered unless there is a medical reason for not doing so. You must have a safe means of transporting the dog home in a crate or if this is not possible please discuss with Many Tears or the Fosterer when your application is being processed.

In certain circumstances and in particular when it is one of our long term stayers or a dog who is difficult to home we may transport it down the M4 as far as Reading if the adopter is not able to travel for a valid reason. This will only happen on a Sunday and will be part of our Foster Run where we transport dogs to their foster homes. There will be and additional charge of £20 transport fee for this and the adopter must be able to travel to the allocated service station. Please think very carefully before asking for a dog to be transported as if you already have a dog there is no guarantee they will get along with the new dog or vice versa and you will need to be able to hold on to the dog until the following week and meet the van again if you wish to return the dog.

Please read our adoption procedures before applying and then complete the adoption form.
