If you are interested in adopting a dog that does not say it can be homed with a cat and wish us to cat test please let us know and we will be happy to do this.

16-11-2018 Nell is a beautiful Welsh Collie girl who came into us from a farm with her sister Gwyn as they were no longer needed and we will consider homing them together but if not she could be homed with another dog or in the right circumstances as an only dog.  Nell already walks on a lead but has never lived in a home so will bee house training.  However she is smart and clever and we don't think  it will take her long to pick it up.  Nell will need an active home where she will get plenty of exercise and be able to use her clever brain.   We are told she is good with people and and met (but not lived with) children and was very good with them.  She is a really sweet, loving girl so we think she would be happy to live with kind and caring children.

31-12-18 UPDATE
Nell may just have the most stunning temperament a dog can have. Since arriving here she has blossomed into the most affectionate little girl. Before entering Nell's kennel each morning, we see the same thing, Nell on her hind legs almost resting her body on the kennel gate anticipating the arrival of people! When you walk in with her, you are greeted by the most confident, gentle, submissive lady, when you go to stroke her she slowly flips herself over and demands belly rubs.
During her time here, Nell has met every kind of dog you can imagine and has got on well with the lot, as this is the case Nell could safely be rehomed with most dogs, regardless of the size and gender. She walks beautifully on a lead and goes out walking regularly with volunteers, even the more inexperiences ones, she's that easy!
Nell may be a Collie, but she doesn't share many typical Collie traits at all, she's a real cuddle monster, she loves walks and needs stimulation but at the same time she is happy to sleep in and relax in her bed.
As Nell is so confident and loves people so much, she could be rehomed as an only dog in the right circumstances. All she needs is love, she just needs a human to be close to and to curl up on the sofa with. If you think Nell could be the right fit for your family, please consider putting in an application or coming to meet her!

04-01-19 UPDATE

I have now been working closely with Nell for a week or so, my word is she special. Today, whilst on a walk we were able to add two more things to her incredible list of qualities, she met a child and she walked with and met a small Shih-Tzu, both of which couldn't have gone any better. Her initial greeting to humans is to go up on her back legs, rest her front paws on you, push her head into you and hug in tight, an action which makes every last visitor she meets fall hopelessly in love. She is relishing going on long walks with volunteers and she adores exploring, however once back, she returns to her position, leaning up against her kennel door desperate for more people to come and take her out. Nell would complete any active family, she's so wonderfully affectionate and people orientated, I sometimes have great difficulty believing she is still here, we really hope for her lucky break soon.

06-01-19 UPDATE

Nell really is a lovely young collie who is full of life. As soon as you enter her kennel, Nell runs straight up to looking for your attention and gratefully receives it. As Nell is so people focused it wouldn't be any issue with her living in a home without a resident dog. Nell absolutely love going out for walks and being a collie would have no trouble keeping up with the most fittest of people! If you are looking for a loyal, active companion then come and see Nell at Many Tears.

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.

The adoption fee for an adult dog (6 months and over) is £220 and for a puppy is £250, However if the dog has a passport you will be given this when you adopt and we ask for a further £20 to help us buy a passport for another dog. You will find a break down of what the adoption fee covers under our Adoption Procedures (see link below) If your application is successful you will be home checked and you, all members of your family and any dog(s) who will be living with the dog MUST come to meet the dog you want to adopt. All our dogs are micro-chipped, have had at least their first inoculation and are spayed/neutered unless there is a medical reason for not doing so. You must have a safe means of transporting the dog home in a crate or if this is not possible please discuss with Many Tears or the Fosterer when your application is being processed.

In certain circumstances and in particular when it is one of our long term stayers or a dog who is difficult to home we may transport it down the M4 as far as Reading if the adopter is not able to travel for a valid reason. This will only happen on a Sunday and will be part of our Foster Run where we transport dogs to their foster homes. There will be and additional charge of £20 transport fee for this and the adopter must be able to travel to the allocated service station. Please think very carefully before asking for a dog to be transported as if you already have a dog there is no guarantee they will get along with the new dog or vice versa and you will need to be able to hold on to the dog until the following week and meet the van again if you wish to return the dog.

Please read our adoption procedures before applying and then complete the adoption form.
