If you are interested in adopting a dog that does not say it can be homed with a cat and wish us to cat test please let us know and we will be happy to do this.

14-10-2018 Portia is scared girl who has come to us from a breeder.  She is very underweight at the moment and we will be giving her frequent but small meals to build her up.  Portia has been through a lot and now deserves to find a family of her own who will shower her with love and understanding.  Her new owners need to understand her fears and be prepared to give her the time she will need to settle into life in a home.  She will need at least one other very kind and gentle dog to help her who will allow her to snuggle up and help her confidence with people.  She will watch and copy what they do which will help her with house training and learning to walk on a lead.  These things will not happen overnight but if you have an abundance of time, love and patience Portia will repay you for this tenfold.

07-11-2018 UPDATE

Portia has been with me now for only a few days but has settled in very well, she is a very happy go lucky dog but is still a little timid about being picked up but once in your arms relaxes. She does not have use of her back right leg. I took her to see my orthopaedic vet and he has said that the best option is to leave it alone but this means that the home she will need to go to will have to be mostly lawn as she should not put her leg on the floor as it may drag and she would graze her skin which could lead to an infection. Saying that she does seem to manage to keep it up most of the time and if you think she’s disabled then think again she has more energy than my younger dog, we have nickname her Spitfire!! She really is the most sweet little thing and in her case she would make a great “handbag” dog as she would need to be carried most of the time when out. Today she had her spa day out and as you can see just is as pretty as a picture ! She is currently under weight so is having 4 small meals a day but she is putting on weight and is up to 3kg. If you have space (you won’t need much) please consider her she will put a smile on your face every day.

11-01-19 UPDATE
Portia is an absolute poppet, she if super friendly and just loves to go out for a stroll, although beware if you are in a hurry because she’s not!! I take her to a dog park nearby and usually it takes 20 mins to walk around the park but she takes sooo much time sniffing it takes me an hour! She can only walk on the grass so if I need to carry her I have a sling which she also just loves to hang out of.
She is nearly clean in the house and her mistakes are normally because I haven’t seen that she wants to go out (she runs around in circles like the Tasmanian Devil). She is super easy dog and would suit a lot of people even ones that go on long walks because you can just scoop her up and put her in her sling.
She’s very good around children but they would need to be dog savvy and not too boisterous. At night she sleeps with her friend Deena and will put herself to bed when I open the crate door (I have been putting her in the crate at night to get her clean overnight and now she seems to be very happy to sleep there) She has also slept on our bed on the odd occasion which she is also very happy to do !
I can’t believe she has had not found her forever home yet, how can anyone resist that face!

26-02-19 UPDATE

Portia is doing amazingly well and loves racing around the garden!

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.

The adoption fee for an adult dog (6 months and over) is £220 and for a puppy is £250, However if the dog has a passport you will be given this when you adopt and we ask for a further £20 to help us buy a passport for another dog. You will find a break down of what the adoption fee covers under our Adoption Procedures (see link below) If your application is successful you will be home checked and you, all members of your family and any dog(s) who will be living with the dog MUST come to meet the dog you want to adopt. All our dogs are micro-chipped, have had at least their first inoculation and are spayed/neutered unless there is a medical reason for not doing so. You must have a safe means of transporting the dog home in a crate or if this is not possible please discuss with Many Tears or the Fosterer when your application is being processed.

Please read our adoption procedures before applying and then complete the adoption form.
