If you are interested in adopting a dog that does not say it can be homed with a cat and wish us to cat test please let us know and we will be happy to do this.

24-03-18 Lua is a 6month old cross breed who has come to us from a killing shelter in Portugal. She has witnessed and experienced things no dog should see. Thanks to our wonderful supporters we were able to offer help to 65 of these dogs and so now Lua is here to find a home for the first time in her life. Thank you so much to every one of you who donated to help these wonderful dogs.
Lua is a beautiful girl but she has had a long journey and is very worried at the moment. Despire her worry she is gentle and easy to handle which shows her lovely nature. She will need another dog in her new home to help her adjust to life in a family and introduce her to new kills such as house housetraining and walking on a lead. She would be best in a calm adult home but visiting children would be fine.  She needs lots of time and patience but in time she will love life. She has her own passport.

25-04-18 UPDATE

Lua is such an amazing girl and is growing in confidence as each day passes. She has learnt to walk on a harness but is still a bit nervous of the outside world, however with the help of her kennel friend she finds it less daunting than when she is alone. Lua will now come up and sniff me and enjoys getting treats from me aswell. She will need to be homed with a resident dog to help her grow into a confident girl which I don't think will take long at all.

28-06-18 UPDATE

Lua is gaining confidence by the day but she still isn't 100% sure of people. I can fuss her all over, as long as I am patient and calm with her, she also enjoys a good belly scratch, but I can see that she doesn't trust me completely.
She is such a stunning girl who seems to have just transformed since being at the centre. With her rough start in life then it's understandable as to why she is currently not the most confident dog in the world, but with a home who can prove that people are kind, I can see her learning to love people quite quickly.
Lua will definitely need a resident dog to learn from and bond with, she loves her kennel mates here, especially Amora, and seems to follow her every move and we would consider homing them together. Lua is going to be a very rewarding little girl, she'll give you so much in return for your love and kindness. If only someone would give her a chance.

13-07-18 UPDATE

Wow! What a different girl Lua is now. I can now call her over to me for fuss, she no longer hides when I walk into her kennel and she seems to actually enjoy human contact now. She is walking well on a harness, although this does still require some work and confidence. She is such a gorgeous little girl, I am totally smitten with her. Lua is going to make the most hilarious and loving addition to a very lucky family indeed. She just loves the paddling pool in the yard and will lie down in it and bite at the water, before jumping out and charging around the yard. She has me in fits of laughter.
If you can offer this girl a loving and patient home then please fill in the application form. And you could be the very lucky people that get to watch this girl grow into the happiest dog on the planet.

05-08-18 UPDATE

I think it's safe to say that Lua has come a long way from the very scared girl that arrived at the centre. Lua is still nervous on the lead and harness, but today - for the first time ever - She let a little bit of that fear go and replaced it with sniffing. She just sniffed and sniffed, enjoying all of the smells that were around. It was so lovely to see, watching her actually enjoy herself outside of her comfort zone. Lua is still very nervous around people she doesn't know, but she is getting quicker to trust. In an experienced and patient home I think she will become a very happy and confident girl who enjoys all that home life has to offer.

01-10-18 UPDATE

Lua is really loving exploring on her walks, she has started to wag her tail and follow her nose as soon as her paws touch the grass. It's so lovely to see. I even took her for her first dip in the stream and she LOVED it.

07-10-18 UPDATE

Lua really can not get enough of this exploring malarkey now. She gets so excited when she knows she's going out and does her happy dance, although she still isn't keen on me putting the lead on.
