  • Human family requirements

I would like a calm and quiet, adult only home, preferably with only female humans

  • Other pet requirements

I need a resident dog to help me settle in and I have never met cats.

  • House and garden requirements

I would love a garden to play in!

  • Out and about requirements

I can walk on a lead and harness and love to explore quiet areas.

  • Training needs

I have briefly lived in a home and started to learn all about house training.

  • Medical issues

I am neutered and ready to find my forever home!

Benji is a lovely boy who originally came to us a few weeks ago from a breeder. Benji was adopted and found a lovely home, however he struggled to accept the man in the house and would growl and panic when he was around, so sadly Benji is now back with us to find a more suitable home. We are told that Benji was great with the females of the home and became so loving and sweet and was good with visiting females too, it was just the man he couldn't cope with. For this reason, Benji will be looking for a calm and quiet, adult only home and would perhaps benefit from a home where there were only females, although we will work with him while he is here and introduce him to more men.

We are also told that Benji loves to go for drives, sleeps happily and soundly throughout the night and is used to the sounds of the home, like the TV, hoover, microwave - all of those basic general appliances. He loves his food, especially cooked meats and treats and loves playing with his toys!

Benji does rely on other dogs for comfort and so will need at least one other kind and confident resident dog in his new home to be his friend and help him settle in to his new home. Benji had never lived in a home before being adopted and was adjusting really well to home life and was 99% house trained already. He has gotten used to wearing a harness and lead and has been enjoying going on lots of walks in quiet areas.

Benji's previous adopters have mentioned that he may be 7 but he has the soul of a 3 year old, and is looking for a home where he can go on nice walks and adventures to keep his young spirit alive! Benji is still learning all about love and kindness but seems to want to give you as much love as you give him and in the right home he is going to truly thrive. Once he loves you, he will nuzzle his little head into you and give you kisses and demand some more fuss and will even roll onto his back for tummy tickles. He really is a very sweet little boy and would really love to be back in a home as soon as possible.

Benji's Diary

  • Since Benji has been returned from his previous home I have seen a HUGE difference in him, in the best way possible. He is so much more confident now than he was when he was with me before, so it’s absolutely lovely to see. He’s learnt how to walk on a harness, he loves a fuss and a cuddle, and his overall confidence is just much better. I feel very grateful that I get to work with him and spend time with him every day because he really is a ray of sunshine!!
As mentioned in his previous update, we are looking for a female only household for Benji now that we know he doesn’t like sharing his space with men. Please don’t let this put you off him or make you think he’s a bad dog, because he’s REALLY not. We don’t know what these poor souls have been through in their lives to give them such a fear of men. When he knows you and he trusts you, he is the most loving boy in the world who just wants to be by your side. If you’re looking for a doggy companion to snuggle up with you on the sofa, Benji could definitely be the one for you! Please don’t keep him waiting at the rescue for too much longer. He so deserves to be back in a warm, loving home.

  • Benji is a lovely boy who has come to us from a breeder to start his new life. He is not very comfortable with us humans at the moment, but we believe with time and in a calm and loving home he will flourish. Benji will benefit from a kind resident dog he can rely on for support and comfort just as he relies on his kennel friends at the moment. Benji has not had the chance to live in a home just yet so his adopters will need to be kind as he learns new skills such as how to walk on a lead and house training. He is still learning all about love and kindness but seems to want to give you as much love as you give him.
