Sassy, Sweet Tanya Is Ready to Shine
Tanya is a 6-year-old Shih Tzu who came to us from a breeder and is now blossoming in her foster home. Like many ex-breeding dogs, Tanya had never lived in a home before and found everything new and overwhelming at first. But day by day, she’s growing in confidence and letting her true personality shine through.
Tanya is a classic Shih Tzu, full of character, a little bit stubborn, and secretly very loving. She enjoys a fuss and a treat (gently taken, of course), and she’ll even cuddle in on the sofa when the other dogs do, though she still likes to pretend she doesn’t need anyone. Her house training is coming along well, and while there are still the odd accidents overnight, she’s showing great promise and is an early riser who asks to go out first thing.
She walks happily in the garden and is practicing with her harness and lead, though she’s not quite ready for walks in the wider world just yet. Tanya is wonderful with the other dogs in her foster home, playful, respectful, and even protective of the more nervous ones. She would love a home with at least one other kind and confident resident dog to be her companion and guide.
Tanya has been diagnosed with low-grade patella luxation in both back legs. It doesn’t slow her down at all right now, she races about the garden like a whirlwind, but it's something her adopters should monitor, as any future treatment would not be covered by pet insurance.
Tanya has had a lot of change in her life recently and needs a calm, loving home where she can continue to settle at her own pace. She’s a bright, funny, independent girl who will thrive with someone who understands Shih Tzus and can give her the space and support she needs. In return, Tanya will offer loyalty, laughter, and a bit of adorable mischief along the way.
Could you be the one to show this brave little queen the forever love she’s waited so patiently for?
