I sit here, breaking my heart, crying into dear Lola’s neck while she stares out of the French windows, waiting for her people to return. But they aren’t coming back. Three weeks ago, she found a family of her own—a home, a child she adored, a place where she thought she finally belonged. But yesterday, everything fell apart. On a walk, another dog tried to take her special ball, and she told it off. She wasn’t looking for trouble, and had happily walked with the dog for the whole walk but when her ball came out and the dog wanted it she just panicked over the one thing that was hers. No she shouldn’t have done it but That one moment cost her everything. Her family lost confidence in her, and just like that, she was back with me. Her new family loved her and were kind people but felt that this one thing made them not trust her now. Lola isn’t possessive with people—you can take anything from her without worry. She’s lived with children, she’s lived with cats, and right now, she’s in foster with other dogs. But more than anything, she deserves to be someone’s one and only. She deserves love that won’t be taken away from her. She’s had so much heartache, so much disappointment, and she can’t take another letdown. She’s loyal. She’s loving. She’s been let down by humans too many times. She adores her toys—maybe because in her past, she never had anything of her own. She loves her walks, but she’s just as happy pottering in a garden.

  • Meet Lola. Lola is a beautiful 9-year-old, tall Staffordshire Bull Terrier (springer height) who has been through more heartbreak than any dog should ever have to endure.
Her world shattered last year when her beloved mum took her own life. In the aftermath, Lola was taken in by her mum’s son, but instead of finding stability, she faced more hardship. He struggled with addiction and was abusive to those around him. Last week, he was arrested and sent to prison, and his girlfriend and children left - abandoning Lola, along with a cat and two guinea pigs, to fend for themselves. No authorities stepped in to help. She was forgotten.
For days, Lola sat waiting in an empty house, confused and alone. If not for a kind neighbor who fed her and let her out, she might have been lost entirely.
Now, Lola is safe in foster. She will stay here in foster care until we can find her a forever home. She is a little overweight and has been to the vet for a full check-up and to restart her vaccinations, but her spirit remains strong. Despite everything, she is overjoyed to be around people again. When I laid down a dog bed for her, she flinched in fear - but the moment she saw the sofa, she curled up as if she had finally found a piece of home. She is not a slouch and enjoys playing and walks but equally loves a good chill out session also.
She has met all my dogs with gentle kindness, and she has spent her life around small children and a cat (I’ll introduce her to mine soon). She is house-trained, well-mannered, and eager to please.
But right now, Lola is lost. She is searching for love, stability, and the comfort of a family who will never leave her behind.
She deserves a second chance. Let’s find her one.
