27-04-25 – Ruth, a Beautiful Soul Ready for Her New Chapter

Ruth is a 5-year-old Miniature Poodle who has come back to us at Many Tears after a lot of change in her life. She originally came to us in September 2023 from a breeder in Ireland, she bravely began her journey toward learning about home life for the very first time.

When Ruth first arrived, she was a very scared little girl who had never lived in a home before. Thanks to the dedication of her foster families, kennel carers, and her adopters, Ruth has blossomed and made so much progress. She is now a dog who enjoys affection from people she knows and trusts, delights in a fuss and a bum scratch, and dances with excitement when her favourite people come to see her.

Ruth was adopted by a loving couple who gave her a wonderful home, but after several months, it became clear that her naturally 'bossy poodle' side was a little too much for their very gentle and quiet dogs. It was a very hard and heartfelt decision for her adopters to return her, made purely out of kindness to all of their dogs. We are very grateful for everything they did for Ruth and for helping her continue to grow and feel loved.

Here in kennels, Ruth shares beautifully with her doggy friends. She is currently kennelled with three other dogs and is often found snuggled up happily with them. She would suit a home with confident dogs, especially other Poodles or Poodle-crosses who can understand her playful, slightly sassy nature. A home with very delicate or easily overwhelmed dogs may not be the right fit for her, but with the right companions, she thrives.

Ruth will need an adult-only home where she can continue to build her confidence at her own pace. She walks on a lead and harness now, although she can find busy environments a little worrying, so quiet areas or secure gardens would suit her best for gentle exploring.

This sweet girl still shows glimpses of the shy little dog she once was, and while she has come such a long way, she will need patient and experienced adopters who can offer her time, understanding, and plenty of love. Ruth is a truly special soul who will form deep bonds with those she trusts, and in return, she will offer her loyalty, affection, and endless happy dances.

Ruth eats well, enjoys her toys (which she sometimes collects in her bed), and is fine with cats too. She prefers her meals from a lick mat or placemat rather than a bowl, and her house training is very good with a little understanding and encouragement.

After everything she has been through, Ruth truly deserves a forever home where she can finally settle, snuggle up on the sofa, and be cherished for the wonderful little character she is.

Ruth has had a recent dental and was treated for an ear infection when she originally arrived with us.

If you have a kind heart, a calm and confident resident dog, and the patience to let Ruth’s beautiful spirit shine, you may be the person she has been waiting for.
