Chequers

18-04-25 Chequers is a stunning girl who has come to us from a breeder. Life in kennels has been very overwhelming for her, and she is understandably finding all the recent changes a little difficult to cope with. Because of this, Chequers can be a little on the spicier side because she’s scared and unsure of this new world she’s been thrust into.
She will need a calm, adult only home where she can take things at her own pace. A kind, confident resident dog is essential as she will need someone she can look up to and lean on as she slowly learns that humans can be gentle, loving, and safe. Chequers has never lived in a home before, so everything from the sound of the TV to the the washing machine will be brand new and possibly quite frightening at first.
She isn’t yet used to walking on a lead, and it may take some time before she’s ready for adventures beyond the garden. For now, a secure garden where she can potter, sniff, and build confidence will be perfect. She will also need to be gently guided with house training and the everyday routines of family life.
Chequers has come to us with symptoms of back leg lameness and is being monitored. She has her travel documents.
Chequers has a lot of potential, and with the right people, patient, kind, and full of compassion, she will begin to blossom. Watching her take those first brave steps toward trust will be an incredibly rewarding journey!
