20-04-25 Lockie is a truly special boy who originally came to us from a breeder a few months ago to begin his journey toward a better life. He was adopted and found a loving home and was very much adored, but sadly he has been returned to us after taking a strong dislike to a male family member and trying to nip him. There was also another incident where he became reactive for an unknown reason, and he could also show some signs of jealousy if others are receiving attention from his chosen person. Lockie is now back with us and will be looking for an adult-only home where there are no visiting children and with experienced adopters who can help him feel safe and secure.

With most people, Lockie is a delightfully happy lad - full of wiggly-bottomed excitement, affectionate cuddles and an absolute love of tummy rubs! He forms strong bonds with his humans and in his previous home, followed the female human everywhere. He is clever, eager to please, and very food-motivated, making him a quick learner who thrives with positive reinforcement. He knows his name, can sit beautifully, is house trained, and sleeps well overnight without a fuss.

Lockie loves his walks and walks well on the lead most of the time, though he can pull when excited - something his new family will need to continue working on. He enjoys playing with balls and having fun in the garden, and here at the rescue, he gets along brilliantly with other dogs. While he could live as an only dog in the right home, he would also be happy to share his life with a calm, friendly canine companion.

In his previous home, Lockie did begin to show some reactivity toward other dogs on walks and could growl and pull towards them – something we haven’t seen here. This may be related to him feeling protective or overwhelmed, and it’s something his adopters will need to be aware of and help him manage with confidence and understanding.

Lockie is able to be left for short periods (around 2.5 hours) and settles well when left. He’s been truly loved, and we know that with the right family, he will make a wonderful and loyal companion.

Lockie is looking for an adult-only home with no visiting children, and adopters who can continue to guide him with calm, kind, and consistent training. If you think you could offer this lovely boy the safe and secure forever home he’s searching for, please do submit an application form.
