  • Training needs

I am in a foster home so am learning all about home life and house training.

  • Medical issues

I have had cataract surgery, please read more information below.

Indy is a very sweet girl who originally came to us from a her breeder to find a loving home. She arrived with cataracts in both eyes and was referred to a specialist, where she had cataract surgery. Indy spent a few months in a foster home while she was having this surgery and recovering and settled in so well. Although still a worried girl, she began to show her cheeky side and started to learn all about home life as she had never lived in a home before. She has the occasional accident sometimes but her house training has come along so well.

Indy was adopted for a short period of time, but has been returned through no fault of her own as she struggled to settle in as she was quite nervous of the male human in the home. She is in foster with a male at the moment and is fine with him, so with time, love and patience we think she would settle and start to trust.

Indy has a wonderful temperament and after only a few days in her new foster home she is already starting to approach for a gentle fuss and attention and is a little star when you put her eye drops in.

She is in foster with multiple other dogs at the moment and would be looking for a home where there was another kind and confident resident dog to be her friend and help her to settle in. She would benefit from a calm and quiet home and adopters who will give her the time and patience she needs to settle in. With love and kindness we think that she is going to blossom into the most wonderful girl so please don't leave her waiting too long.

While Indy has recovered well from her cataract surgery, she will need ongoing eye care which would not be covered by insurance and so this is something her adopters would need to take into account. She is still on regular eye drops, which will most likely be ongoing long term and she will need to have check ups with an ophthalmic vet.

  • Indy has been returned after a very short adoption though no fault of her own. She is quite nervous and never really settled with the new owners as she was quite scared of the male in the house.
Indy has been returned straight into a foster home, but a different one to her previous foster home. Here she seems fine around my husband but does have very little contact with him. I think given enough time she would come to trust him. After only a few days she has started to come to me for affection and a fuss and is so good at me putting her eye drops in. She’s a real gem.
She is SUPER sweet and is very kind and gentle around my 7 little dogs which all have special needs! She will need a home that will give her the time and patience required for her to feel at home, this is not an overnight result this may take months but she is so worth it. As in the previous write up she will need ongoing eye care so before applying please ask your vet what the cost would be and if they don’t have an ophthalmic vet then you will have to find the nearest one to you. She should soon be able to go to a once a year check up.

  • Indy has been for a follow up appointment with the specialist who noted that her eye pressure was slightly up in both eyes and that they were both slightly dry. Her eye drops have now increased in the hope that this will help her. She is due to visit the specialist again for a follow up at the end of the month.
Once Indy has had her follow up appointment, she will be ready to find her forever home. Her new adopters will need to be committed to her eye drop regime as these will likely be on going long term. The specialists have also recommended that she visits an eye specialist for check ups in the future, so this is something her adopters would need to consider as it would not be covered by insurance.

  • Indy is now in foster and would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to everyone that donates to the GIFT OF SIGHT funds, without this opportunity her life would have been a very dark place. She's had her cataract surgery, and we are due back on the 30th Dec, it's not been plain sailing for her but she has been the model patient.
Indy loves her food, the garden, cuddles at any time of day. She's also a good girl while i put her eye drops in. She still has the odd toilet accident indoors, she gets on great with my own two dogs and will happily share a dog bed with them. This little pocket rocket is starting to show her cheeky side, the weather has calmed down so we will attempt a walk in the big world outside the garden.

  • Indy is a sweetheart who has come to us from her breeder to find a loving home. She is a darling dog who is very timid at the moment and doesn't yet know how to come forwards and meet us but she does begin to relax a bit when you spend time with her and she can understand she is safe around you. She doesn't yet walk on a lead but with the support of a kind person who has plenty of patience and a lovely resident dog to lead the way we don't think it will take her very long to learn about this and all about other home skills. She has never lived in a home before so will need to learn all about house training and get used to the sights and sounds of home. With a little encouragement and lots of love she will soon get the hang of everything and will love being someones special girl.
Indy has bilateral cataracts and our vets feel she only has about 20% vision remaining. This doesn't slow her down, but she has been referred to a specialist vet and is scheduled to have surgery to help restore her vision.

Can live with other dogs
