Adopting from Many Tears
Thank you for considering adopting one of our animals! Here’s a quick overview of what to know before applying:
Before You Apply
Read Carefully: Please review all the information here and read about the animal you are applying for before filling out an application form.
By filling out an adoption form you confirm you understand the following:
- Permanent Homes: We seek long-term, loving homes for our animals, where they will live as part of the family.
- Requirements: We may request references, proof of work hours and landlord approval if renting.
- Costs: Ensure you can afford pet ownership, including vet care, insurance, feeding and grooming.
- Health and History: We provide information about each animal in good faith, but we cannot guarantee accuracy or future health outcomes. Known medical or behavioural issues will be disclosed.
- Neutering: If unneutered, you must agree to neuter the animal by the appropriate age and provide proof.
- Home Check: Successful applicants will undergo a home check, provide ID and must collect their pet within a week of applying (exceptions will be made for equines).
- Microchip & Data: Your details will be shared with the relevant microchip database to transfer your adopted animal to your details (and passport authority for equines if applicable), which you’ll need to update as needed.
Things To Consider
- Many of our animals have experienced trauma and need time, patience, and a stable environment.
- Dogs shouldn’t be left alone for more than 4 hours in a day. Puppies need even more attention.
- Ensure you have a secure garden appropriate for the size of the dog.
- Ex-breeding dogs are not rehomed to households with children under 5 (except in rare cases).
- Some scared or high-need dogs are not adopted to applicants under 25.
Adoption Process
- Application: Complete the online form and provide as much info as you can.
- Initial Contact: If we think you are a possible match for the animal you're applying for you’ll be contacted by telephone to discuss your application. If you are unsuccessful you will be emailed to explain why.
- Home Check: A visit ensures your home is safe and suitable.
- Meet & Greet: You’ll visit the animal’s location to meet them.
- Take Home: If all goes well, you will bring your new dog/cat home straight after the meet & greet.
Note: the process for other animals such as equines will vary.
Adoption Fees
Fees vary and are listed on each animal’s profile. These fees cover vaccinations, microchipping, neutering (where applicable), and medical care. We also rely on donations to cover extensive rescue costs, from vet care to heating and transportation.
