Our History
Many Tears Animal Rescue is a Registered Charity (no.1192227) based in Llanelli, Carmarthenshire. It was founded in 2004 by Sylvia and Bill Van Atta, with the aim of providing a safe haven for dogs that were facing uncertain futures. Both Sylvia and Bill have a long history of animal rescue. Sylvia has set up and worked in rescues in both the UK and USA. They have witnessed many sad situations and shed many tears over dogs in terrible situations and hence the name Many Tears Animal Rescue.

Our Mission
At Many Tears we take in animals from difficult situations, rehabilitate them both physically and emotionally, and find them loving forever homes. We rescue dogs from breeders, where they are often subjected to neglect, poor living conditions, and overbreeding. We also take in abandoned and stray cats and dogs from pounds, unwanted pets directly from homes and dogs from overseas when we have space. We also operate a network of dedicated foster homes, allowing rescued animals to receive individualised care and attention while they await adoption.

Life At The Rescue
At Many Tears, the well-being of the animals is paramount. Our dedicated team of fosterers, volunteers and staff help rehabilitate the animals
The rehabilitation process focuses on the animals' emotional well-being. Dogs and other animals are given patient, gentle, and positive reinforcement-based training to help them overcome any past trauma or fear they may have experienced. Our staff, fosterers and volunteers treat every animal as if it were their own and feel very invested in their future. Our compassionate approach ensures that each animal receives the support and care they need to thrive.

Facilities
We have a fully equipped veterinary surgery on site to provide essential veterinary care, including vaccinations, spaying/neutering, and treatment for any existing health conditions. We have a dedicated grooming room where dogs can be bathed and clipped in needed. The animals receive proper nutrition generously donated by Arden Grange. There are many play yards for exercise, and enrichment and lovely countryside walks straight from our door to help them regain their physical health and build their trust in humans.

Many Tears Animal Rescue has a rigorous adoption process to ensure that the animals find loving and suitable forever homes. Prospective adopters are carefully screened to ensure they can provide a safe and nurturing environment. Home checks are conducted to assess the compatibility of the adopter and the animal.
Many Tears Animal Rescue continues to make a significant impact in the lives of countless animals. Through our commitment to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome responsibly, we have provided hope and second chances to animals that were once forgotten and unloved. We hope we inspire you all to make a difference in the lives of animals and work towards a future where every animal is treated with love and compassion.
